blooming hate waste so annoyed with myself.
currently cooking fresh bird now.
Hi, I slow cooked a whole chicken a week last Saturday, kept the leftover chicken meat in a Tupperware container in the fridge and when I used the last of it the following Friday, it was fine. Mine kept well for 6 days and I was fine. I think as long as you keep in an airtight container in the fridge it will be ok.0 -

Okay, how much did you spend on this chicken? £3-£5? How much is left? Half? £1.50-£3.00 worth?
Next, how much is 24 hours of your time worth? Time you could spend (a) puking up and sitting on the loo or (b) doing your usual Monday things?
Compare.....
(....and then throw the chicken in the bin. Three days is about the max for chicken, really.)Val.0 -
I wouldn't eat it personally, it would have gone in the bin by Tuesday, (I know how life takes over though, and I'm sure I've done the same in the past).
Just not worth it really.0 -
If I havent used it by Tuesday evening, sundays roast is put in the freezer..........but ideally, I like to freeze cooked meat as soon as it is cooled. and believe me, it WILL be PIPING hot when reheated!
I would never use it past three days - My OH would be ok, he has a cast iron stomach.........but I would prob be extremely ill (sensitive stomach!).0 -
even i wouldn't risk eating that, sorry'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0

I wouldnt eat meat over 3 days old, however we dont waste any part of tjhe chicken except the string tieng the legs together! After Ive made stock from the bones, the dogs have any skin and finally the ferrets get the bones! they eat everything and if any meat gets past its best for us to eat they have a treat!Member 1145 Sealed Pot Challenge No4

Blimey, I'm sure that cold, cooked chicken in the supermarket has a shelf-life of more than just three days. I seem to remember cooked poultry being left covered in the pantry when I was a kid because the family didn't have a fridge and I'd swear on a stack of bibles that we were still eating it on NYE when Mum had roasted it for Christmas dinner.0

I have some left from a cooked chicken I bought last Tuesday.
It still smells fine and I am using it tomorrow if it's ok.
I wouldn't suggest this if you are pregnant though and especially not for the youngsters.NSK Zombie # SFD 7/15 Food Bank £0/£5

Hello :-)
I have a packet of frozen chicken breasts that I want to cook on Sunday to use in salads for my work lunches for the week. Am I safe cooking all of them and keeping in the fridge to use up until Friday, or should I just cook enough for 3 days, then cook the rest on Wednesday night?
Thanks!the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0
