Civil Service Back Pay

Glad to hear HR Connect were able to organise this for the staff. I don't qualify but if anyone wants to buy me a pint!
They've only announced the payments. HR Connect didn't organise anything, it was Corporate HR who did that, and it will be interesting to see how many complaints about HR Connect there are from those who don't get their money (I already know that I won't get mine for another month or two, but in fairness that isn't anything to do with HR Connect)
I will reserve judgement until everyone has actually got their money.0 -
I've heard rumours that the tax free lump sum payment will be paid around August this year. Can anyone else shed more light on that?0
-
Afraid not, as there has been nothing official yet on a payment schedule.
I will go as far as to say that I have been advised on July/August as a likely period for payment, but it's nothing more than a suggestion at this point.0 -
As said in the Assembly last week -
Mr O’Loan: There have to be concerns about the financing of the swine flu issue, and I am sure that the Health Committee will take that up. However, I want to ask the Minister about the equal pay issue. His explanation was complex. Will he confirm that the revised pay scales for all grades will be in place and that payments will be made, including those for the related short period of arrears, in March pay packets? Furthermore, have any of the lump sum back payments been made in this financial year, and, if they are to run into next year, when does he expect them to be paid? Will he accept that that is an urgent matter?
The Minister of Finance and Personnel: We expect the back pay to be paid by the end of this month, and we provided for that. The lump sums issue is complex because all 13,000 people affected have to be interviewed. We took steps to put a structure in place once we knew that we were moving towards a settlement. I cannot give a total commitment as to when the lump sum issue will be resolved, but, as I have said in the House before, the Treasury allowed us money that my predecessor had negotiated for. I met the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, and we are being allowed to carry over that money to next year. However, I doubt that we would be allowed to carry it over for a further year.
I do not want to stretch the issue out for a year, however, and all the indications are that we should be able to pay the lump sums by August 2010 or in late summer. I am always reluctant to give the Member an exact date, because I am sure that, if I miss it by a day, he will skewer me in the House. I assure him that we will seek to pay those lump sums as quickly as possible, because it is not in our interests to do otherwise. In September 2009, I promised to resolve the situation by Christmas, and we did so, with the agreement of the unions.0 -

I took a career break in Oct 07 after I had my 1st child, so technically I'm still employed by the NICS. I haven't been sent any info about the back pay, so I'm assuming that means I'm not entitled to get anything because I'm on a career break. Would that be correct?0
-
The terms of the offer are on DFP's website.
It says that career breaks of more than 6 months will reduce the amount awarded but doesn't make clear - that I can find - whether staff currently on career break but who worked for part of the 6 year period will be paid.
One thought is have you moved house since you went on career break and do Personnel have your new address?
There's a helpline number somewhere in the information on the site - I'd give it a ring and ask. Hope you get something. :-)0 -
Thanks for the link, thats great. I'll give them a call as it looks like I might be entitled to a small amount.0

Anyone on career breaks, maternity leave, sick leave etc is supposed to be forwarded circulars by their branch manager.0
