Civil Service Back Pay

  • New NIPSA bulletins have been released......equal pay won't be paid until the next financial year........back pay appears to be en route!
  • "Just received a phone call to advise there's a meeting this Monday 1st February in Stormont Committee room 144 from 12pm -1pm regarding the likes of myself who is not entitled to Back Pay cause even though I was employed for 4.5 years during the disputed years I wasn't employed by NICS @ 01/08/08. All been well I will be there. If anyone else thinks or knows they are not entitled to Back Pay for what ever reason it might be in their interest to attend. If you decide to come along you will need I.D to gain entrance plus the name of a Political Party so they can say your their guest and they in turn will sign you in."

    Hi Choco

    Any update on this?
I'm affected too. Resigned from NICS late 2007 after ten+ years service as an AO and am also excluded from the offer.

Was told by NISRA that they didn't have an in-house Solicitor I could avail of to seek advice on appealing and NISRA's external link-up with McCartan Turkington Breen wouldn't consider free advice :(

Am seriously considering setting up a Website to continue the fight for those ex-Civil Servants like myself who feel angry that their previous service has been ignored. Seems good box markings for all those years counted for nothing.

Any ideas for the name of a Protest Group?

Went to meeting. Although hosted by SDLP numerous other ministers/MLA from all differnet parties came in to speak with us. SDLP was going to meeting with NIPSA on Feb 11th regarding likes of us but haven't heard anything bact yet. SDLP are going to host another meeting in a couple of months time. Lots of people unhappy. One lady retired on 31/07/08 (1 day out). We were advised to lodge issue with ministers/MLA from all parties i.e SDLP,DUP, UUP Sinn Fein etc. There is a group for retired NIPSA Civil Servants, 1st time I heard about it was at meeting but I cant apply as I'm still in CS alL be it not NICS but you sign the form and agree that you wont take a case against NIPSA!
Maybe when things start to settle down @ Stormont it will be raised again here's hoping. Although I am pursing other avenues at present but can't put it on this forum + my case is different again as I'm still a CS.

Read post #52 folks! Not this financial year. Arrears are many months off.

    That's actually equal pay NAR.

The 09/10 budget can stand the back pay element from 01/02/09 though. The logistics of paying it might well mean that some will not get it until April/May anyway, but historically back pay has always been paid fairly quickly following agreement in pay negotiations. I would expect AA's to be first, followed by AO's and EO2's, but any attempt to state when the first payments will be made is no more than a guess by those doing so.
