Civil Service Back Pay

Just wondering if there are many NICS out there are sorry should I say ex NICS who are not entitled to Back Pay like me? I left NICS in Oct 07 after 22+ years and transferred over to Imperial Civil Service and apparently cause I wasn't in NICS @ 01/08/08 I'm getting nothing. Anyone else in same position or something similar?

i have a couple of friends both of whom are in one month too short to get any money, so im sure they will feel you pain being there with all their colleagues round them getting showered with money!! i was out too early too to avail of this cash!0

I suspect there will be quite a few in the same boat. My wife went to Imperial CS about 3 years ago from CSA, so won't get anything.
Although she doesn't need it, as I'm getting some (not the £14K or close to it unfortunately) and having to buy a kitchen out of it.0 -
I really am suprised that no one has approached a firm of solicitors to consider taking a class action regarding this discrimination based on an arbitrary date, when it is an equal opportunites matter.0

Not entirely sure of the legislation NAR, but I'm led to believe that employment law only allows payment to those who were in position within 6 months prior to the settlement date.
Such a class action would have to be before an employment tribunal not a 'normal' court circuit, and the tribunal are tied to those terms.0 -
the date had to be picked when it was as it was when the subject first arose and was voted that they should be getting back pay, so thats why the date is when it is.0

The date used to calculate the period of 6 years was when NIPSA first lodged a claim in behalf of one of its members and this was many years after the issue was first raised. I was promoted just a few months too early to qualify for anything but understand that a cut-off date has to exist somewhere and accept that I've just been unlucky. Of course I've received a higher salary since so am better off anyway.
I do agree that people who retired or left the NICS within the 5 1/2 year period before that cut-off date are being very unfairly treated.
Perhaps one of them can obtain free legal advice on the matter via their NIPSA membership?0 -
i doubt it would be of much use, look how long its taken for this pay deal to come through, i think they would be waiting another 6 years to get anything from anyone!! but like you said, you were just unlucky with your timings as were many others out there.0
