In my slow cooker today.... part 2

I've previously used my SC to boil ham, could anyone tell me if the ham (once cooled) is OK to freeze?
I love a thick slice of ham in a sandwich but don't want it every morning, noon and night until it's used up - would much rather use it as required in omelettes, sandwiches, pizzas. quesadillas etc etc.
Thanks!
I had previously wondered this as well - luckily we have a chef in the family and he said it was absolutely fine to freeze it. I usually cook a large joint and freeze the remainder in portions which we usually use for sandwiches. If life gives you lemons, make lemonade.;)0 -
I've slow cooked ham/gammon before and the frozen the left overs into slices so I can take out what I need.
Because it's usually so lovely and tender and I end up with 'scraps' of meat after I've done the slicing I also freeze those too and then use them later in a pasta dish or something0 -

I have just rescued my old slow cooker from the back of a cupboard as this thread has really inspired me. Can't find the instruction/recipe booklet though and can't remember if you have to preheat the cooker before putting in the ingredients? If so, how long for please? It's a Tefal Oval one, creamy colour.0

whole chicken going into mine in a little while. It was a woopsie from Mr T a few weeks ago that got chucked into the freezer. Its a Finest British free range corn fed bird so I feel all posh :rotfl:Only cost me £1.80 tho so very pleased with my purchse
ETA - just put it in and its too big. I had to cut a tiny little tail bit off the back and put it in upside down and it just (and i really do mean just) fits. It has a tiny bit touching the lid - what i am wondering is if it will be ok and how long should I cook it on High?? I normally chuck a whole chick in and cook for 8-12 hours on low but suspect this beastie will take a whole lot longer :rotfl:
Its 2.27 kg if anyone can advise.........Emma

I did shoulder of pork at the weekend - resting on sliced onions, carrots and apple - no water though. There was enough room so I bunged in a couple of spuds to try baking them and I think they were way too big as after 8 hrs they were still a bit underdone. Would give it another go though but with smaller ones! The meat was very tender and really good in sarnies the next day - not at all dried out like I normally manage to cook it. Going to try a brisket this weekend...0
