  • Hi :)

Today i have chopped 3 small potatoes and a carrot, placed a chicken breast ontop poured in 2inch of water and sprinkled a chicken oxo in. I will do a bit more veg later, noticed Aldi do really cheap fresh veg so will stock up when ive run down the freezer.

Quick question..I would like to make a curry in mine. How do i go about it ?. I have tinned toms and curry powder also various lentils/chickpeas/red lentils.

get some own brand cola (big bottle about 47p) and add to slow cooker with chopped onion. Cook for at least 6 hours, longer if on low. This is Foolproof - but Don't get DIET cola, get the one with sugar!

    guys

im not very up to speed with the slow cooker revolution but im contemplating getting one as our gas consumption has gone through the roof in the last few cold months - how much do you think it would save?

we have a lot of casseroles usually in the oven for about 2 hours at 180ish (sometimes not in as long as this as we are always hungry hehe!)

    thanks x

What's in mine? The packaging at the mo.:rotfl:
I bought it yesterday and dinner doesn't need cooking tonight.

You would need to know how much power the Sc and your gas cooker use per hour and to cook a meal to work it out. All appliances are different.

As far as we can work out I can use my A rated electric oven for 1.5 hours. or use my 320watt Sc for 6 hours or use a big electric ring for 1 hour and cost is about same if the Sc was using that much continually - which I don't think they do.

  • Prepared for tomorrow, going in is

    Couple of diced potatoes
    Chopped Chardannay carrots
    1 Parsnip chopped
    Chopped Mushrooms
    Chopped Onions

Will chop some defrosting pork steaks in the morning to chuck in with a casserole packet mix and frozen peas
  • Doing pork chops with soy sauce, tomato ketchup, garlic and ginger. I don't cook pork any other way than in the SC now, it's so tender.

I've previously used my SC to boil ham, could anyone tell me if the ham (once cooled) is OK to freeze?

I love a thick slice of ham in a sandwich but don't want it every morning, noon and night until it's used up - would much rather use it as required in omelettes, sandwiches, pizzas. quesadillas etc etc.

    Thanks!

  • got a casserole in mine - a 1kg pack of frozen casserole vegetable from iceland... lots of baby onions in there. lovely! a big squirt of tomato puree, a couple of vegetable stock cubes, a buig tablespoon of dried herbs, a bit pepper, a small handful each of barley and green lentils. will add some dumplings about half an hour before it's done.
