sausage casserole using a 10p bag of asda (marked down) stew veg, and some on offer decent sausages... and some leftover cider, honey and grainy mustard... smells good!

I have done that same today but used chicken breasts and mushroom's. Would probably have been better if I had remembered to switch the sc on at the wall:mad:

Hope it will be ready in time.

  • I bunged a whole chicken in mine this morning, seasoned with salt, pepper, paprika and garlic.

My first whole chicken attempt - fingers crossed it works out!

A little late in posting but here goes - soup made from left over gammon from yesterdays joint, the stock from the gammon, onion, celery, garlic, carrots and pearl barley. Must have been good as all gone and demolished.

I just did some chicken legs in their juices and used half to make a chicken/gammon/pesto pasta tonight, and will use the other half for stir fry tonight.

at the moment I've got stock simmering away to be taken out in the morning :)

Then went for chicken pie filling a few hours later, yesterdays roast chicken, leftover home cooked ham, mushrooms, chicken stock from teh carcass and cream.

  • i cooked pork with pears today, it was lovely,
just a pork shoulder resting on 2 sliced pears,3 chopped carrots, 1 red onion, half a sweet heart cabbage and about 1/4 bottle of magners pear cider.

i left it cooking for 8 hours and it was gorgeous, i took the pork and carrots out and whizzed the rest into a pear sauce, we had it with mash

going to try brisket tomorrow with chillis

bother! Wish I'd seen this before last night! I got a reduced shoulder of pork but chopped it up. Having it with celeriac, onion, apple, fennel, oregano and glass of wine. Eating at 8pm tonight so am using a plug in timer thing to switch it on at midday, fingers crossed!

The chicken tasted amazing, but the whole thing fell apart in quite an offputting way when I took it out :(
