Could someone please tell me: if I stuff a load of veg in my pot with some sausages, what would I add liquid-wise? And how long would I need to give it to cook?
I want to use up some leftovers so don't want to tie myself to a 'proper' recipe!
Thanks
I just use boiling stock made from either leftover chicken carcass thrown into the slow cooker while it's still hot from cooking a chicken with onion herbs etc or just make some up from gravy granules, herbs, seasoning and a glug of wine if some open.
If it's piping hot it takes less time to cook the sausages. mine takes 6/7 hours or so but depends on size and heat.0 -
I wish I was good at using a slow cooker. I know it seems a little...odd how this could have happened but I was cooking some sort of cider, potato lamb type concoction in my slow cooker and I turned it on before I went to bed, went to work the next day, and the whole thing had like dried out and kinda burned on.
).
I think you left it on for too long - you could have just turned it on before you went to work. It's unusual for things to dry out & burn - but then it was on for a very long time.
Be encouraged by all the posts on here - if you get one, read the recipes/instruction book before cooking and have a look at the great ideas on here - they really do work well0 -

Oxtail Stew will be going in mine today - already had two 'smallish' packs of Oxtail in the freezer and bought another two bigger pieces yesterday to go with them (my SC is 6.5ltr).
Prepped veggies last night while watching the box - carrots, swede, leeks, onions - and left in water overnight.
Have already coated the oxtail in seasoned flour ready to be browned - helps with flavour and thickening the stew. Also adding Pearl Barley, Beef & Veg Stock Cubes, dried mixed herbs and a couple of Bay Leaves.
Dumplings to be added about an hour before the end of cooking time.
Will be served with mashed potatoes and whole green beans.
Should get plenty for today's evening meal for the two of us and quite a few 'ready meals' for the freezer.0 -
