Using my SC for the first time today and have a chicken casserole bubbling away nicely. I think I may well have added too much liquid but I suppose it will be a bit of trial an error until I properly get the hang of it. I am also hoping that the teaspoon of flour mixed in water will help to thicken it.

I do not worry too much about too much liquid. You need some to allow the contents to circulate. Though what I do is use a ladle to drain as much as possible and use it as a soup. It all depends on what it is. My chilli makes a great chilli soup.

  • Mushroom Stroganoff in mine tonight. Superrhinos I put in a bit of cornflour whenever I do something with a sauce in the slow cooker so it thickens whilst cooking.

Not much but I am looking at the idea of sous vide in a slow cooker.

    absolutely delicious.
  • Hi ive defrosted some lambs hearts made up some packet stuffing and am contemplating stuffing the m and putting them in the slow cooker tomorrow. I'm not sure if I should foil wrap each one or lash them in with a bit of water in the bottom. Have carrot and swede mash and mash leftover from today to go with it. How would you cook the hearts in the slow cooker please x

I wish I was good at using a slow cooker. I know it seems a little...odd how this could have happened but I was cooking some sort of cider, potato lamb type concoction in my slow cooker and I turned it on before I went to bed, went to work the next day, and the whole thing had like dried out and kinda burned on. This was about 2 years ago and my parents were on holiday so I left it for them to come home to (contents and all!), to see if it was salvageable. Sadly, it was not :(

I've not bought another one. (Plus, when I did make something in it which actually worked, the potatoes weren't like the normal texture, they appeared to be like the texture of tinned new potatoes).
