Have treated myself to a dual slow cooker from eBay seller, and it is fab. Eldest dd has moved back home, and she is vegetarian, so this is ideal. - turkey curry in one part for myself and dd3, and veggie version in other half for dd1
That sounds handy to have, I didn't even know you could get dual ones so will have a look at these.
Has anyone ever done salmon in the slow cooker, or does it go to mush?Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
OS'ers which are the cheapest/yummiest cuts of meat to use n the SC? I know the ones I would go for like brisket, lamb shanks etc are now going up as they're seen as fashionable. Can anyone help?0

I am finding that page realllly hard to navigate and can't for the life of me find the lasagne recipe! Where do I look? have been through the photo album, but can't see a photo of anything that looks like lagagne..would love to make it as it's so well recommended.
Basically, I lightly fry 2 small onions and 3 cloves of garlic and brown the mince, add tin of tomatoes chopped or a spag bol sauce, herbs if you fancy, then layer it in the slow cooker, one layer mince, 1 layer lasagne sheets and so on finishing with a layer of pasta sheets, I then make a bechamel sauce mixing in a good amount of finely grated cheese to the sauce and pour over the pasta sheets, I leave it in the slow cooker on low for about 2 hours. hope that helps, the majority is almost cooked, but there is something about the slowcooker that makes it soooo yummy. Oh my bechamel sauce is:
60g of butter simmering in a pan
3rd cup of flour added to the meted butter and stirred to form light paste
3.5 cups of milk stirring all the while and add loads of finely grated cheese to melt into the sauce
I also add salt n pepperIt can take a good 4-5 mins of stirring on a low heat for the sauce to thicken, when it seperated from the pan whilst stirring is the time to remove and pour over the lasagne xxThriftkitten

I'm trying some slow cooked breast of lamb. I bought it for a few pence at Tesco's, without really knowing what to do with it, and put it in my freezer. Finally got round to giving it try. It's been cooking with a ridiculous quantity of rosemary and garlic since 8am this morning (totally missed the facts the clocks were changing).
