Just wrap your fish in foil with some lemon salt and a touch of black pepper. I'd put it on low for 4 to 5 hours. Add a knob of butter, some peas and some baby corn around it and you have a lovely meal.
With the stew I always add just a third of the liquid content of any recipeSignature Removed by Forum Team.0 -
That's it, it is because the slow cooker retains the liquid that comes out of the food rather than it being evaporated. So say your recipe asks for 1 pint of gravy. I put in about 200mls of thicker gravy.

Lamb with apricots & sweet potatoes:
1 kg Piece of lamb (I used leg but I think shoulder would be nicer as it's more fatty).
250 ml lamb stock
200 ml red wine (I used Shiraz)
8 dried apricots
1 onion finely slice
Sprig rosemary
2tbsp tomato puree
3/4 anchovies
1 sweet potatoe, cubed
All in the slow cooker, I cooked the lamb for about 8 hours on medium and added the sweet potatoe at the end on high, it cooks in about 30 min. If you are home ideallly the lamb should be turned over, but I wasn't.0 -
Ladies, how do i cook fish in one of these crock pot things? After reading through this thread yesterday, thought id grab myself one of these slow cooker things today. Cooked a beef stew ealier but was very watery tasting and not much flavor. Thinking of a nice bit of fish tomorrow. Any advice?
I wouldn't even both cooking fish in a SC. It only takes a few minutes to cook either in a pan or wrapped in foil in the oven and I think probably tastes a lot better.

I cook salmon in the microwave.. 2 min and it comes out perfect! SC are not designed to cook fish... what I would do is maybe cook a nice sauce on the SC and add the fish 10 min before.0

This week, gingered chickpeas (great for using up store cupboard ingredients)...our "push the boat out" was lamb, port and cranberry hotpot and yesterday was Caribbean jerk chicken with rice, kidney beans and peas...delish!
It has been a godsend since I haven't got a working cooker at present and has meant I've finally used the cooker books for inspiration beyond stew! :j0 -
Loving this thread ladies!!
Since purchasing a slow cooking crock pot a whole new world of food has opened up. Just the ticket for anyone out at work all day that doesn't fancy cooking when they get home.
No more cakes and biscuits to fill a gap for me from now on - good nutritious food here i come.Signature Removed by Forum Team.0 -

OH has gone away on a stag weekend, I am planning on getting up early to make a beef, ale & mushroom stew in the slow cooker. It should be ready for when he gets in. Will serve it in a giant yorkshire pudding. Will serve the leftovers on Monday in a baked potato.Cat :wave:0

Yesterday I cooked a gammon joint in apple juice, absolutely loads for the week which I will use for sandwiches, carbonara, pea and ham soup (made with ham stock) and pies!
Today a whole chicken seasoned with paprika, garlic salt, thyme and salt and pepper, sat on a trivet of carrots, onions and bay leaves. Will have that as a roast dinner tonight and leftovers in pies with the gammon and a risotto, will also boil Dow carcass for stockyummy!
