My recipe with mushroom soup & chicken wasn't nice at all, it was really salty!!!! Not sure I will give the recipes book another try...

Has anyone cooked a whole chicken..? I'm thinking of trying but I've no idea how it will come out...

You will find that you dont need to add extra salt to anything that has soup in it.

You can also use low sodium or reduced salt soup.

I didn't add any salt at all.. in fact I added some water to make it a bit lighter (I suspected the ingredients contained too much salt, and I was right)

Oxtail Stew in mine today - Oxtail pieces, stew pack (carrots, onions, swede, parsnips), celery, leeks cooking away in a mix of beef and veg stock cubes with dried mixed herbs, couple of bay leaves, pearl barley, red lentils and seasoned with celery salt and white pepper.

I coat the oxtail pieces in flour seasoned with black pepper BEFORE 'flash sealing' in a frying pan prior to putting in the SC, then deglaze the pan afterwards. This ensures that the cooking liquid thickens to produce a good gravy.

I also add home-made herb dumplings about 45mins-1hr before it's finished cooking.
  • yellow split pea in mine today, peas, carrot, neep, leek onion, white pepper
