I am trying my first ever brisket!
Confession time... I have never cooked a brisket before by any method. I have only cooked a piece of beef once in my life before, and it was a dried out disaster, so I never tried again. Actually I never tried any kind of large pieces of meat again!
With the advent of my slow cooker a few years ago, though, I have successfully done pork loins, chicken and turkey drumsticks. I absolutely love slow cooked meat so thought I might get adventurous for Easter.
I got a YS brisket yesterday, and put it in at about 8am. I decided to go with putting it in without water or veggies, but have added about 6 cloves of garlic to roast in the juices (I saw this done with a slow cooked chicken on a TV programme ages ago, the garlic goes sweet like roast onion).
It smells delish already. I am going to have a little of the meat shredded with some tinned new potatoes and sprouts (I'm a bit weird, I love me sprouts) tonight.
Then it'll be shredded and some kept in the fridge for another meal and some sandwiches, the rest in the freezer for adding to rice dishes or stir fries.
Hope it actually tastes as good as it smells!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

I steamed a low fat sticky toffee pudding (recipe here) for a big family lunch, (also made a summer pudding so people had a choice of dessert).
The recipe was for 4 individual puds but I don't have any of the little pudding moulds so I made a big one and steamed it for 3 hours. It was totally delicious and made as one big pud it served 6 people ok portions with custard or cream (for 4 people they would have been generous portions).
We'll definitely be having this dessert again :-)I like to live in cloud cuckoo land :hello:0
