Still something I have to try(ham/chicken in coke)My problem is still a lack of room in the freezer to build up a stock of food that I have cooked so most of my meals are still individual to each day or at best it means I get a second meal(The same)that I have the flollowing day or no more than a few days later by putting it in the fridge.
To be honest there isn't much variety in my diet. Well, I do try to eat cereal/fruit/salad etc...but the main meal is virtually always a casserole/stew and all that may change is the meat that is used."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

I've done a gammon in cola this week, which is lush. But I do like chicken in cola too. That might be next... I've also done carrot and coriander soup, a beef stew and now bolognese this week.
I've had a week off work, so been batch cooking to stock up my second freezer which has been switched off all summer. I got a load of those cheapy takeaway tubs to stack in the freezer...Bossymoo

Hello all!
I have just bought a cheap pork joint from mr a and was going to put apples in the bottom with some juice but now you lot are mentioning coke? Which would be better?
I was thinking if I put apples in the bottom I could mash them into apple sauce? Or would it not work like that??
Thanks for any help!

I have Kashmiri butter chicken in my SC today, to be served with rice and naan (made the naan a few weeks ago and froze it so I can just pop it in the toaster).
The house smells amazing!0 -

Val, I'd go for the apples. It's lovely like that! I put x2 - 3 apples in half, then over them with apple juice and a little drop of water, bang it on low for 6-7 hours and there you have it! The apples fall apart, so not sure about apple sauce. Although if you whizz it up in the food processor with some gravey granules and a drop water it's an awsome gravy!Married the lovely Mr P 28th April 2012. Little P born 29th Jan 20140
