Chicken, chickpea, and mushroom curry today, using some of yesterdays leftover chicken that was still sitting in my slow cooker. It had all the jellied juices at the bottom, so all that went in too.

Frozen sweetcorn, and creamed coconut, will be put in an hour or so before serving.

I went to my local butcher today and bought some oxtail. It is in my slowcooker with onion, carrot, sweet potato, a tin of tomatoes, stock cubes and some red lentils. I hope it tastes as good as it smells!:T

I cooked a 1.8kg chicken in mine today for the 1st time :D

Turned out well, I peeled 4 carrots & lay them in the bottom of SC, put the chicken on top (breast side down), then I sprinkled it with salt, black pepper & italian seasoning.

I cooked it on HIGH for 5 hours. I've sliced the carrots to use for dinner tomorrow & I'm letting the juice from chicken cool down to use as stock for my next soup.

Chicken curry tonight & chicken dinner tomorrow, should be enough for chicken & ham supreme with pasta on monday too.
  • Well tonight i have 2 large packs of mince ' browned 1st' 3 chopped celery, couple spoons of lazy chilli,3 gratted carrot, fried onion, lentils, red wine, 3 tins of toms, tom puree...will go on for about 8 hours tonight then made into lasagna, chilli, shep pie & wrap filling for 3 adults. poss few extras..

I have seen that breads can be made in a SC but I have never attempted it- please would you share your sourdough recipe?? :D
It's a little bit experimental but here you go:

Grease a 2lb loaf tin (I use lard because the loaf comes out much easier)
Put 1 cup sourdough starter, 1 1/4 cups water, 1/2 tsp yeast and 1/2 tsp salt in bowl or jug and mix. (I find a large plastic jug more convenient. Yeast is optional but makes a less dense loaf then "pure" sourdough.)
Add 1lb flour and mix. It will be runnier than regular bread dough - more like thick cake mixture.
Pour/scrape into tin and smooth the top with your spoon.
Cover and leave overnight (or at least eight hours).
Put crumpled up balls of aluminium foil and 1 1/2 cups water in slow cooker and put it on high for 15 minutes.
Cover loaf with aluminium foil (because otherwise water drips on it from the lid and makes it soggy on the top) and cook in slow cooker for about 3 1/2 hours. (You can stick a skewer in to check if it is cooked.)
If you cook for longer, you may need to add more water to ensure the slowcooker doesn't go dry.

ETA: This is with a 6.5L oval SC. You can do a 1lb loaf in a smaller one but obviously would need to adjust quntities and timing appropriately.
