I am lucky, my fishmonger only visits the town 3x a week, but I have 'used' him at least once or twice a week, for what seems to have been forever. I get mixed bags of fish trimmings for fish pies, fish cakes, fish fingers for about £3 a Kg:j When I first married my new DH who is now my fulltime carer, one of the first things i did was introduce him to my butcher and the fishmonger and the friendly farmer that I buy veg from. These chaps have saved me a fortune over the years.

Sausage casserole last night - it was lovely but I'm thinking it wasn't the best choice perhaps for one of the hottest days of the year so far!!!

Trying a new recipe tomorrow, chicken breasts in salsa, lime and coriander, will serve with mexican rice which I made a few weeks ago and put in the freezer. Nice light meal in this heat and it wont heat up the kitchen.

In mine waiting to be switched on is a huge slab of braising steak, garlic, onions, a tin of tomatoes, mustard seeds, coarse ground black pepper and rather a lot of indian spice mix that came in a packet from Aldi.

For rather a lot i mean half a mugful as i opened the packet over the pot and loads fell in :o Hope that its not too hot lol

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p
  • @sunnyday I would dilute it enough with water to get the sweetness of the dish once it is cooked enough, you don't want it overspiced.
I think sugar balances out chilli, garlic and chilli balance each other, but water and cooking helps determine the flavours.
