Just done a chicken to take away with me cold tomorrow on my holiday. It will do my friend and I for several days for sarnies and a couple of meals in the cottage By tonight I shall wrap in foil and put in fridge and than into cooler box tomorrow for our trip
SC is a brilliant way of cooking that is very inexpensive and the residue stock I shall put into the freezer for soups when I come home so nothing is ever wasted0 -
You lot are so inspiring!
I've dug my slow cooker out from the back of the cupboard, and tonight we're having stewed beef with carrots and celery from the back of the fridge!
A quick question - do I need to cook on high for a while to make sure the carrots cook, or will they be ok on low? So far it's been on high for an hour, and I was planning on turning it down to low and eating around 6-ish.
Enjoy the rest of your day!

I bought another slow cooker last week as I found my husband and son weren't keen on the stews I was making so I made them some pork chop in one cooker and some minted vegetables stew for me in the other, came home from work and all I have to do was oven cook the roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and sausages for half an hour then we all sat down for tea. So much simpler and it was well recieved.
Pretty sad but I thought the two cookers looked really sweet cooking away together lol!0 -

Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!0 -
I am making beef bourginoin today - stewing beef from the freezer, new potatoes and carrots both needed using, onions, garlic, salt, pepper. I don't have any red wine so I added some sherry I found in the cupboard with the beef stock. Cheapy slow cooker book I bought suggests 10 hours, put it on high at the moment and will turn it down later.I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

oh I hope this is the right thread for this question but if not perhaps someone could point me in the right direction?
I have a bagful of large tomatoes that need using up along with a big pack of Billy Bear ham stuff and some onions. I thought I could throw all of this lot into the slow cooker and mix it in with some pasta.
Would this work as they are or would I need to add liquid to it or anything else to make it edible? The toms look gorgeous so I wouldn't like to waste them.
Thank you in advance to anyone that can help0 -

That sounds lovely, you could add a tin of tomatoes to give it some extra liquid, depends how many tomatoes you put in in the first place really but generally you need enough liquid so that everything is just about covered in the cooker.0 -
Oriental Chilli Turkey with Noodles.
Turkey breast, onions, carrots, ginger & garlic, lots of soy sauce and some water. Have also sliced a leek and got some spring greens to put in when I get home. Will cook some noodles to have with it, might put them in the SC to finish off.0 -
