Spicy Meatballs in mine. I added 20 swedish meatballs (cos i love em) with the following spicy mixture (2tbsp peanut butter, 1can light coconut milk, 1tbsp spicy belachan or shrimp paste (can pick this up at most oriental supmkts), 2tsp fish sauce, 1tbsp sugar - blitz all ingredients in blender). I also added more chilli flakes because i like it hot. Just give the mix a quick stir in you slow cooker and cook on low for 8 hrs or 4 hrs on high. I am going to serve with basmati rice, grated carrots, grated cucumber and thinly sliced onions (raw & fried) with lotsa fresh coriander. I promise you this will be phenomenal if you ever try it.

    Hi everyone!

Im so pleased i have found this thread! I have had a slow cooker for like 2 years and have NEVER used it! Also i have lost the instructions!

I have no idea what to do with it! A few quick questions if someone wouldnt mind answering them for me!

How do you know whether to leave something on low medium or high?

Also if you are cooking gammon (i liked the gammon in coke recipe) do you fill the slow cooker with coke so that it covers the gammon, and how long would you cook it for?!

Sorry im a bit of a novice cook :o

  • Hey all
Made Oxtail in the sc over the weekend, was yummy, seasoned the meat in oxtail seasoning, soy sauce, chilli powder, vinegar then added half tin of chopped toms and let it simmer on high for 4 hours it was divine, had it with steamed basmati, carrots, green beans and homemade cheesy coleslaw.

I usually do lazy pork chops. Bung pork chops in sc with condensed cream of mushroom (or anything) soup. I usually add more ground black pepper (cos I find it a bit bland otherwise), sliced fresh mushrooms, chopped garlic, sliced onion, large pinch of mixed herbs, mustard powder and smoked paprika. Cook on low 8 hrs or high 4hrs. I serve it with rice or mashed potato. It does help to brown things off first but again as the first line says lazy pork chops..... I dont usually bother. You can add celery, carrots, spuds, peppers, bay leaf etc etc for different variations

sorry forgot to mention - i also usually crush an oxo cube into the sc - helps to thicken the gravy.
