Found this yesterday when looking for recipes - absolutely hilarious, I recommend a read!
http://www.vegetarianslowcooker.com/2009/11/dulce-de-leche-caramel-sauce.html
I started reading the instructions on there and thought it had been translated and the translator had got the words wrong!
I DON't think you should make it either...............NOT!0 -
The instructions for the caramel say to cook for 8 hours which I did.
It is really thick which I love but I suppose if you want it thin enough to pour you would have to cook it for less.
Now I have to decide which ways to eat it other than with a large spoon straight from the jar!
I thought about spreading some on a digestive biscuit and topping with a bit of melted chocolate to make a type of millionaires shortbread.0 -
For the first time ever i get to post in this thread (used to use my slow cookers - but haven't in months)
I have Irish stew in mine - my parents coming for dinner tonight so i thought i better try and cook.
Going to serve it with wheaten bread.Weight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -

I have eggs, spread, flour, cocoa, sugar, bananas and various flavourings.

Regarding the caramel that I made from the condensed milk the other day.

Yeh, go for it (unless you are watching your weight), it tastes great.
I may try the Nestle brand next time to see if there is a difference in taste.
When you have a craving for something sweet just go and have (try) a tsp of this stuff.
Honestly, how easy is this 'recipe', stick a can in some water in the slow cooker on low and leave for 8 hours, anyone can do that!
Let us know what you think if you do make some.0 -
I have gammon in coke in mine, will have cabbage and mashed potato.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

Thanks for this. Made banoffee pie a long time ago. How long does the caramel keep for? Wondering about putting the jar in the fridge and using with icecream etc?

I know it keeps for years once cooked if left unopened, not sure about time limits once opened.
I did read that someone had kept theirs in a ziplock container for at least two weeks.0
