My recipe's in American cups but I realised after I'd added the dried milk that I'd forgotten to reduce the quantity as I'm only using 1 pint of milk - so it may well be thick by accident! It sounds as though the proportions were meant to be similar to yours.

Thick yogurt is the best... I think I will be buying muesli to eat it with too... :) I suppose I'd better wait to see how it turns out first? :D

Thank you for your advice, it's good to have especially from someone who's succeeded already.

I have been making it for months now, this may help you

My SC will be having a well earned rest tonight i think - unless i remember to buy whole milk on the way home from w*rk tonight.

The concoction that went in last night is very tasty and will provide 4 meals :D I shall see if i can find room in the freezer for two of them - that may mean eating more ice cream lol

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

Thank you, that's a useful post! (And I noticed Yeo yogurt has gone up 2p in the 10 months since it was written; ;)).

Mine is definitely yogurt now though I haven't yet strained it.

Just loaded mine up ready to go on overnight tonight.

    2 Tins chickpeas
    1 tin spinach
    1 tin tomatoes
    2 onions
    garlic
    ginger
    frozen sliced peppers
    1 chopped courgette
    turmeric
    garam masala
    chilli powder
    cumin seeds
    smoked paparika

Basically a load of stuff that needed using up and the spice mix based on a keema mince recipe that i make which is very yummy so the flavour should be really good.

    SD

PS the condensed milk that i had has been made into ice cream flavoured with hm rhubarb, ginger and cinnamon jam which is absolutely lush! I do have another tin which is destined for caramel though and a recipe for hm condensed milk from a link provided by sb which i shall make at a later date :D

My wife and I tried this on Sunday and it was delicious! Thanks for sharing!

    It was a major success!

I decided to make it in a jar so covered the top with foil, put into the slow cooker (I used my small 1.5l one), boiled a kettle, let the water cool a little, pour the water to just above the level of the milk, put the lid on and left overnight on low for 8 hours.

    This could def become addictive.

It is like scraping the caramel off a ton of Mars bars and sticking it in the jar, except this was thicker than Mars type caramel.

Catching up on a few week's of posts.I have a tin of condensed milk in the cupboard.I know now what to do with it!I think I'll try the jar method.I'll report back...:D

Very interesting stuff.I live in Switzerland and jars of dulce de leche are easily found in the shops.I've never tried it and have often wondered what it is.I've even seen dulce de leche ice cream.:D

    Hi
I just wanted to let sb44 know that I tried the jar method of this on Saturday and it is perfect :T
I took it out an hour earlier so it was just spreadable. I then made a tray of short bread and spread it on the top. I then melted chocolate over the top and left to set. The kids have loved this.
