Hello everyone. I know that the answer will be on this thread somewhere, but hope you don't mind me being lazy and asking how do I cook a whole chicken in the slow cooker? Does it need any stock? Have a friend coming round for sunday lunch so would be great if I could just stick it in and forget about it, then I can use the oven for baking!
Have just bought the sc, so when I've got a bit more time I'll have a read through the thread properly.

Im going to attempt the pork joint and coke receipe, but im not sure how much coke to use?
Should i use enough to cover it or a smaller amount?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Laura x
Haven't done pork with coke but have done gammon. I use what I've got and can spare. 1/2 a small bottle was fine but use more if you want; the original recipe does it in a pan on the hob so uses a big bottle but for then sc you don't need a lot.
Everyone apparently said the stock is foul (I didn't plan on using it anyway) so no point making extra.0 -

Just roll up 3 or 4 balls of foil and stand the chicken on top. Cook for 4 hours on high or 8 hours on low. The meat will just fall away from the bones.
You could also rest it on some chopped carrots or other root veg, which you could serve with it. I don't do potatoes in the SC because DH doesn't like them cooked that way but I can't see any reason why you couldn't use them.

Thanks Denise, I'll give that a go. Will probably rest in on the veg as we always have a crop of carrots in the fridge! Made pork in cider instead this weekend and it was really yummy. And we've got part 2 tonight!!Make £2020 in 2020 £178.81/£2020

Meatballs to eat with spaghetti soon. I cheated slightly:
Meatballs (good quality from local shop, but already made)
3 rashers of chopped bacon
Onion (minced)
Garlic (loads minced)
Red wine
Tin good quality chopped tomatoes
2 jars Lloyd Grossman Bolognaise style sauce (was cheap, so bought)
Black pepper
Basil (dried, and fresh)
Smells delicious.Oh well...

in mine i've got mini chicken fillets and a tin of batchelors condensed mushroom soup and i'll serve it with boiled rice and garden peas. Lovely meal for about £1 per head if that.0

In mine I have thai chicken and noodle soup
chucked in bones and scraps from last nights chicken wings, added a chicken stock cube, about a pint of boiling water, frozen sweetcorn, two sachets of creamed coconut block, some green thai curry paste that needed using up and some ginger, and noodles. Put on low for about 5 hours, picked bones out and served with homemade bread
