I'm doing a Chinese curry in mine today.

Half n' half diced chicken & quorn pieces, 2 onions, chicken stock, mild curry powder, sugar, garlic & soy sauce. You fry the onions & garlic, lay the meat/quorn in the SC, mix the stock & other ingredients in with the onions & bring it to the boil then pour it in the SC.

Although I have found it works better if I prep it in the evening, put it to stand in a bowl in the fridge overnight then SC it the next day.

I also make a mean beef bourguignon in mine, I've never been much of a cook but slow cooking is so easy!
Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.

If it was rising, it wasn't getting too hot. It depends on the size of your SC and how much bread you are making. Perhaps you could experiment with putting hot water in the SC and inverting the lid, then putting the dough in a bowl on top. I sometimes use a 'wheat bag' heated in the microwave to provide heat for my dough as it proves (but I am lucky enough to have a combi microwave that has a 40 degree oven setting, so usually use that)

Oh now that's two good ideas for the price of one! I wondered about the heat because where the dough touched the sides it was actually too hot to touch but it really did rise - a lot! I expect you are right and it was quantity more than method: 1kg of dough in a 3.5kg SC.

I will remember the inverted lid idea and the wheat bag because either of those would be good for more gentle heat.

Actually you've just given me an idea - I expect the SC could be used as a bain marie (thinks melting chocolate ;)).

Upload your photo's to an on-line site such as www.photobucket.com

Thanks. :) I used to have a photobucket account but I think it died of disuse. This explains why I've had no luck uploading directly from my computer. I only took a photo on my phone this time and I accidentally deleted the phone software off the PC so until I find the disk to reinstall it, I'm sorry to say I shalln't be able to give you a picture, but I'll leave it your imaginations. ;)

I have been known to use mine to reset this 'reusable' hand-warmers...

My sc tonight is just good old gammo in cola.

The butcher at our local market cures his own and they are not salty and I've found it's just as good with diet cola as we never have the regular in

Bit of black pepper and off we go...

last time i did lasagne i broke the sheets up to fit, or make your own pasta just eggs and flour a lil salt and roll out.

i make it as usual and do layers at a time with cheese sauce on top dont like white sauce, and when its done i pop it under the grill with grated cheese on top.

just trial and error or find a recipe online?

I've got a beef brisket in mine today, will give it 10 minutes in the oven to crisp it up tonight and serve it with roast potatoes, veg and gravy. Mmm a nice roast dinner to look forward to after work! Love my slow cooker!
