It smells A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!!!! Really impatient waiting the 5 hours for it!!!! got the recipe on slowcookerrecipes.org.uk I never stick to recipes (work with food for a living) but use it as a guide. Also, some of the mothods would have me using 6 plates for holding chopped, veg, a pan for browning meat, dish for roasting....too much washing up for my liking
) I like to do it all in the one pot!
500 grams (16oz) boneless chicken breast fillets
2 medium size ripe mangoes
260 ml (8fl oz) coconut milk extract
4 teaspoons vegetable oil
4 teaspoons spicy curry paste
4 medium shallots, sliced- Blend the slices of mango with coconut milk using a blender. Check if its smooth then place it in a container and reserve for later use. (I didn't I mashed)
- Pour 4 teaspoons of oil into a frying pan. Heat onion over medium-high heat. Stir in the curry paste and cook for about 1 minute or until you smell its fragrance.
- Add chicken to slow cooker and pour in the mango puree
- Cook for 4-6 hours on High setting.
Was wondering if I can brown meat and fry etc in the sc? My mum did this but I think it was a pressure cooker???
xxxI'm a Crohnie and I'm proud of it!!! Also dairy free so love love love the OS thread for cooking from scratch!"Be nice to everone on the way up, you never know who you'll meet on the way back down"0 -
Some slices of lamb shouldar which was sold to me as stewing lamb, and some stuffed lamb breast. Simmering slowly in some lamb bullion, will finish off in a hot oven, and serve with wilted spinach, carrots and boiled pots. Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

i did fish in my slowcooker today with a schwatz ready made sauce of dill and lemon.
the sauce was lovely but part of the fish tasted cold even tho it'd been in the sc all day?? i ended up microwaving it but i think fish is just as easy to poach than sc.
tbh it was a disaster - never do fish in a sc:(0 -
Did a chicken curry on Tuesday - used the Schwartz slow cooker packet mix I'm afraid (not very MSE but they are on two for a pound at Mr S at the moment). It was LOVELY - quite spicy but fine for us. OH put a tin of cannelini beans in half an hour from the end to pad it out a bit and we had it with a couple of chapattis. Have been back and bought 2 more packets I was that impressed (while they are cheap) !!
Got sweet & sour pork in there today. Fingers crossed!0 -
In my slow cooker today is pork goulash. First time trying this recipe as it's from my new slow cooking book. Smells lush though

Bought a lovely slow cooker recipe book for £2 at the weekend from the charity shop. - loads of lovely things in there, and it also seems to be a fan of the "chuck it all in and turn the SC on" approach which is fine with me!!
Butter chicken today! First time putting it on a plug timer as well to come on a bit later it only needs a few hours cooking.0 -

This is a house favourite here
I use any cheap cuts of lamb I can (frozen chops work) and just bung them in the s/c on on low all day. Remember that if you've put bones in, you need to check they're all out before you serve!!
The aim is to get the meat to the same consistency of that of shredded duck so as long as it all falls apart and is a bit greasy looking as it were... then remove from the s/c, wrap in foil and keep warm in the oven whilst you'rE getting ready to serve.. I then make a gravy with the juices by putting boiled water and bisto in the s/c and then pour it into a jug and zap in the m/w to heat fully..
Then serve with mash and greens with lashings of that gravy - YUM!!!:T optional extra is onion sauce...Life....mmmm....still trying to figure that one out but what I do know is if I had all the answers it'd be a hell of a lot easier!!!!!!:p0 -
I have had my slow cooker for nearly a year and never used it, untill today!!!
Going back to work full time in a few weeks so want to get use to using it.
I have also used a schwartz slow cooker packet, chicken curry, only been on for a few hours and it smells lovely!!!
