After the success of my first ever slow cooker spaghetti Bolognese, I've decided to use up half a chicken I have in the fridge in the slow cooker for the first time. I made chicken soup with the rest (on the hob) and didn't want to have a roast chicken, I fancied something a bit different so I have skinned the chicken but kept it whole and put it in the slow cooker with an onion, a veg stock cube, garlic, cumin, smoked paprika, ground mixed spice, saffron strands, lemon juice and salt and pepper ( fried onion and spices in olive oil first and seared chicken on all sides) in an attempt to make some sort of a morrocan chicken
, which I have never made before
:o.
Do you think it will be alright? I'm a bit of a slow cooker virgin! It's only got about a quarter of a pint of liquid in. I want to cook it on low but don't know how many hours for. I'm a bit scared pmsl!0 -

That's a good idea, never thought of using the peelings, I grow most of my own so I know they haven't had any chemicals on them so with a good wash they should be ok.
I try to make as much stock as possible but if I run out the only one I use is Swiss Boullion which I find good.0 -
Chicken casserole today, hoping that there will be enough left over to make a chicken pie for tea tomorrow too0

I have cooked chicken casserole in my slow cooker this weekend which consisted on parsnips/carrotts/potatoes/chicken cooked in vegetable stock to start with. Near the end i added in gravy granules, a splodge of ketchup, and tomato puree and ground pepper (no salt as i figured the stock cube would have a lot of salt in it)
Tasted devine, and was filling, cheap & healthy !

It's a success! 8 hours on low and tastes yummy! Going to serve it with couscous and green salad. Wow, seriously impressed with the old slow cooker, love it :j,0 -

In my slow cooker today is mostly glass
Got up this morning to find the handle wedged against the wall, glass on top of the ham, and all over the counter.
