My SC's going on overnight with all sorts of veg in - something between a casserole and a hearty soup I think. We overbought so I don't want to waste them and hopefully they will be good for the diet. :)

Well the chutney is still in there, that's 12 hours now and it doesn't look ready yet!
  • Got sweet chilli sausages in mine, cant remember if i got it from here or not.

Anyway brown off sausages, mix honey, chiilli powder and ketchup together, cut some carrots into batons and chuck all in slow cooker, will have this with egg fried rice, eggs need using up. and carrot, broccoli and green beans that i have steamed and had for lunch.

If this is your receipe out there it is FAB! and i am in no way trying to take credit for making it up, just can't remember who i got it from and where.

Those sausages sound yummy! I bet they are nice cold, too - if any last that long.

The veggie soup turned out pretty well though true to my liking for thick soup, the last few drops I poured out at lunch time retained their shape pretty well!

There are still at least a couple of portions in there cooling so I will put them away for another day. If I have time tonight I hope to do a batch of curried parsnip soup to use up some parsnips.

I'm new to this thread and loving it. I have been toying with the idea of getting a slow cooker for absolutely ages, and finally bought one last weekend when walking past Robert Dyas and seeing that they had a morphy richards 3.5l oval one reduced from £39.99 to £19.99, which I thought was a real bargain. This week I have already done a bolagnaise sauce and gammon joint with apple juice in, which were both delicious, and currently have some beef silverside with potatoes, onions, mushrooms, carrots in beef stock, and it is smelling delicious.

Just wanted to say hi, and thank you all for the wonderful ideas on what to cooking in a slow cooker, I like the look of lots of them, so will start to note down the ones I want to try.

Can any tell me of any good website to get tried and tested receipes from, or is it just a case of googling what I want to make next in the SC.
2016 is the year I am going to find time for me, and cherish the time I spend with my friends and family.
It is also time to save - Aim £4,000 - So far this year - £230/£4,000

Tonight mine will have a beef joint in (overnight) for tomorrows dinner. Not only does it cook lovely, its easier to carve when it goes cold. then I wrap slices in foil and put in the top basket of my steamer while cooking my veg, to re heat it.

Think the first time that i made it with the full amount of liquid it took about 20 hours :D That was in the 6.5 litre one, i took the lid off and turned it onto high to evaporate some of the liquid.

There are lots of recipes dotted about on this thread and there is a slow cooker recipe thread somewhere on these forums too.

adamantine - I hardly put any liquid in with the brisket. Just a couple of spoonfuls to cover the bottom of the SC.

Yes I've been out all day so I turned it off in case, but am just about to turn it back on and do exactly that while I sterilise the jars. Actually it looks like its firmed up a bit while I've been out.

    MILD MADRAS FULL CHICKEN
Tried this & it is so nice it will now become a regular.

I skinned a full chicken & then marinated it in
    20g of melted butter
2 table spoons of garam masala
    2 tablespoons of madras powder
    2 cloves of crushed garlic.

I then added it to the slow cooker with an inch of hm chicken stock & a dash of soy sauce.

I turned the chicken after a few hours to help baste it.

With an hour to go I removed the cooking liquid from the sc & reduced in a saucepan with some red onion & a few tablespoons of passata.

I served this with stirfried mushroom & cabbage, one the best meals we have had for a long time if I do say so myself & enough for another meal each also

I'm making the above recipe again as it was soooo yummy :)
Life is short, smile while you still have teeth :D
