I stripped off all the meat and made a curry, it was lovely, I was surprised with how much meat we got for such a small price and it just came away from the bone so nicely :j0 -
I've got some chicken thighs and drumsticks that I need to cook up. I am a slow cooker novice, could anyone help with how much liquid I should put in for about 10 small pieces of chicken?
Thanks
I usually put in about a pint of stock and maybe a can of chopped tomatoes too. The last time I felt like I had loads of liquid left at the bottom but it made a nice little sauce for lunch today (had it with cous cous and there were a few sneaky bits of chicken in there too).0 -

Anyway, I've put
4 pork loin steaks (browned first)
a sprinkling of garlic granules
a sprinkling of onion powder (like the taste of onions but hate the texture)
a sprinkling of rosemary
2 small appled (chopped up and peeled)
enough cheap apple juice to just cover meat.
Anyone ever tried using apple juice instead of water? Is it a disaster in the making?
I also added a couple of handfuls of green beans part way through cooking. I used the liquid left in the slow cooker and some boiling water and pork bisto to make a gravy served with roasties.
When I dished up, my husband said the pork was really nice and what had I done to it.
It tasted very appley and quite sweet but was really quite nice. A bit more interesting than grilled pork as I would usually do.0 -

Hello! I'm new over on this bit of MSE. My parents got me a slow cooker for my Christmas, and this is it's first outing. I picked up a beef brisket in M&S tonight for £2 (hooray for reductions), never cooked one before so this is a real experiment!! A brief bit of research online told me it can be quite a tough joint so it seems well suited to the slow cooker.
I've put in onion, garlic and carrots, braised the beef and put it in, then made a sort of "sauce" with beef stock, red wine, paprika, chilli powder, tomato paste and Lea & Perrins. Then I put in some chorizo as an afterthought. I just kind of kept adding things - it smells pretty nice tho. I've got it all in the crock pot to marinate and set a timer to turn on the slow cooker in the morning. I'm rather excited about the whole thing!0 -

Another delicious recipe for a turkey leg is Turkey curry made with pineapple juice.
You just need turkey, herbs and spices, cheap pineapple juice, handful of lentils , tin of tomato, onions and I always add some spinach in with it. Whack it all in the slow cooker. The enzymes in the pineapple juice really tenderise the meat and act as a really good base. No water needed at all.

2 spare skinless chicken thighs, carrots, onion, mushrooms and stock, my first attempt at soup in my slow cooker, will be adding a few herbs too. I am loving using up stuff in the fridge that would prob be destined for the bin :j0
