Thank you! I was very pleased with my stew/soup, I think I put too much stock in though so to soak some of it up I put a cup full of rice in an hour before we ate it. It tasted really nice and saved cooking rice separately to go with it, the chicken was falling off the bones and tasted lovely. Thank you for the tip, I will try it with passata next time, I think my boys might like that with some pasta.

Today we are having vege curry from the freezer, I was wondering whether to put it in the SC to warm it up (when it has defrosted)?

PS I've got the Cookworks SC too, I am really pleased with it.

Hello, I have been lurking. I have the cookworks sc and was unsure about buying it as I am vegetarian but I thought that I could at least use it for veg stews and veg chillie which I have tried so far. So today I am trying a red dragon pie in it. I do this often on the stove but giving it a go in the slow cooker. It is a vegetarian shepherds pie. Onions and carrots fried off in the pan then veg stock, soy sauce and tomato puree added. Aduki beans (soaked over night) and rice (or pearl barley) then I added the beans, and stock with onion and carrots to the pot. Cooked on slow for 4 hours. Seperately made mashed potatoes then I will add the potatoes to the top and finish under the grill. I did think about just slicing the potatoes and laying across the top and leaving it all to cook but wasnt sure if it would work.
This is one of my favourite recipes so I will be interested to see if it works in the slow cooker.

I picked up some chinese flavoured ribs from the butchers, and slow cooked them for 6 hours ish on low today. I was dubious, but they were lovely. :)
