Wasn't supposed to be anything in mine today but have just had a phone call from OH who wants me to do Chicken in Red Wine from the packet mix he picked up *rolls eyes*

This from a man who didn't want me to buy a SC because "they are just for stews and I don't like stew" :rotfl::rotfl:

Haven't checked the fridge yet but I hope I have enough mushrooms left as I used some of them for the Veg 'Casserole' (not stew - never stew ;)) I did yesterday :D

  • How about pork with paprika. I seem to remember these go together rather well.

First time I've used the new slow cooker - a Cookworks one from Argos. Very impressed with the results.

I have that one too bought recently in the sale :D
today we had the beef in beer from the recipe book that came with it, yummy. I haven't yet ventured away from the recipe book still finding my way with it but hubbys getting impatient for something different!

  • I cooked a pork joint in my SC overnight last night for hot pork rolls for dinner tonight. I then used the juice to make a curry with the leftover pork which we will have tomorrow night.

Hi I am going to collect my new slow cooker from Argos this morning - very excited, I am paying with some nectar points. I got some chicken thighs and drumsticks out of the freezer yesterday and am planning to do a simple chicken casserole with onions, carrots, potatoes (?), some herbs and stock. Does this sound ok? I would be grateful for any tips, thanks!

Hi I often do a chasseur type thing with chicken, either pieces or a whole chicken, chopped onion, carrot and garlic (celery and peppers if have in) carton of passata, salt and pepper and sprinkle of herbs ( if I remember), sometimes the sauce benefits from thickening with cournflour at the end, I serve with rice. Also I think this actually tastes better when frozen as leftovers for another day.

Just bought my first sc last night in Argos. It is the Cookworks signature model, It was reduced from £30 to £12 to clear, but I had a £10 voucher so I got it for £2!! delighted.

Its really good quality the casserole pot inside it is really heavy and solid.

So I will be following this thread intently for some ideas.

Well i'm very proud of myself. I jointed a whole chicken - removing the legs and wings (which were marinaded in peir peri sauce for a day, then frozen to be used at a later date)

Then I removed all the skin from the chicken and cooked it in the slow cooker with just a little water in the bottom. I've cooked chicken this way before and it tasted bland, but this chicken was to make other meals with so wasn't so fussed.

It turned out wonderfully. It had already fallen off the bone (no skin to hold it together :rotfl:) and will make a SW chicken curry and i've yet to decide what the other breast will make.
