Can anyone tell me when you should add dumplings to a slow cooker stew/broth recipe please?

I think I may have left it too late as I was hoping to dish it up in about an hour.

Thanks, may have to delay it a while then.

I normally cook on low, should I have it set to high when cooking dumplings?

looks like Im a bit late but I usually put mine in half an hour before I dish up but whack it on high - dint forget to put them in a little bit smaller than you would for a normal stew in the oven cos the steam puffs them right up!!! lurvly!!!

tomorrow I am going to try and remember to take my pot out the fridge and into the slowcooker!!!! ah well, at least the meat has been nicely marinading away!!

That's ok ;) I ended up leaving them in for about 45 mins, 15 mins on low then I found a post on some American site about cooking them on high so I whacked it up to high for half an hour.

I made 8 small sized balls but they don't half puff up, ended up having 4 each!

Haven't got a clue what state we will be in tomorrow though, just checked the date on the Atora box and it's November 2008 !!!!!

Oh well, they tasted nice, so fingers crossed.
  • I did my inaugural slow-cook last night - hawaiian venison. I'll take portion into work today to test out the results!

  • Hi! Long term lurker coming out of the shadows! Been following this thread for some time and I upgraded my wee SC to the 6.5 Rachel Allen one. Saw a recipe for American breakfast Casserole on another thread and wondered if anyone has tried doing a good old English Full Monty?! ie sausages, mushrooms, tomatoes even bacon? Am going to give it a go this weekend but thought I'd pick your brains first...
