This thread has made me paranoid, in Morrisons earlier and the assistant removed some cream cakes from the display (not reduced yet) and took them in the back. So I thought, maybe they are to be reduced but she's put them out of the way so she can reduce them for herself, or maybe she has hidden them so they can't be reduced and she wants to pay full price as she doesn't believe in "perks of the job".
But then I saw reason and realised what a big favour she had done me, I have saved eating all those calories and saved money as well, so keep up the good work Morrisons staff.

  • The problem is, I made it known that I was about to buy the box of cakes, the women knew I was about to buy the cakes, I told my wife while standing next to her that I was going to but the cakes, she knew I was simply waiting to see what it was reduced too, and she then took it for herself.

If people cant see a problem with that, then the mind boggles.

I suppose if something is cheap for the first 10 customers in a sale, that is also all right if 10 members of staff take it for them selves, after all they can still be customers?

I'll wait and see whether their head office agrees with me or you.

How did you let them know then?

Good luck to them, their most probably on minimum wage, I would just call it a perk of the job.

I used to work at Morrison's and boy they treat you like a skivvy
minimum wage you have to do all your own cleaning, ovens floor
cream machines fridges and freezers. Then if managers want something putting out you have to go and get it from the freezers horrible place to work

Definitely a perk of the job, my mate works there and some of the stuff they have to put up with.....and this isn't grumpy customers either, it's staff politics, ridiculous amounts of unpaid overtime and a lot of BS......I'd say it's a perk well earned.

edit- and before anyone suggests she finds another job if she doesn't like it, she has a house and bills to pay and you gotta do what you gotta do. Doesn't stop some them taking the pi$$ with her though....

I used to work there sometimes you couldn't even get to your Lunch breaks and the food they serve in the canteen is sh**
as you say a lot of the time you work for no pay at all and yet if your 4 mins late they dock you half an hour

Perhaps she took the cakes because she knew you were just hovering to see what she would reduce them too, infact that's a very likley scenario. Shop staff hate people who hover like vultures when they see them with the reduction gun.

That is what we used to do
customers are like bleeding vultures as soon as they see you with the price gun it was all ways the same people they would snatch it out of your hands
