SUCCESS! Been into branch - very helpful - but she couldn't say why there was a note on my account saying that they must make a phone call. She rang and everything was OK.

  • How are people managing to get more than 3 vantage accounts open?

I have 3 at the moment, and have been in branch and they said sorry you can only have 3.

So I have just phoned them and asked if I can open another 2 and they said yes, but you can only open 1 a day. So I said lets go for it then and as soon as I identified myself they said sorry, you have 3 and 3 is the maximum.

I have a bond maturing at the end of this month and would like to open two more vantage, but I am struggling at the moment.

People are opening a classic account (online, so you're not "audited" by a member of staff), and then converting it to a Vantage at a later date. It may take several attempts to convert it, maybe being refused initially, but eventually (from reports on various threads) you may have success with the conversion, just keep trying.

How long from opening on-line does it take to show. I did another Monday, still nothing to say I've done it at all?

In my experience, 3 working days i.e. you should see it tomorrow.

  • Can someone talk me through opening 3 accounts in the bank at the same time. I walk in with £21k and then what ? Will they just open 3 accounts ?

Simple answer - YES. They did for me anyway.

If you feel awkward about the possibility of questions as to why you want three accounts, just say you would like to open 3 which you understand to be the maximum, so that you can deposit 5K in each and drip feed 1K per month into each to 'take advantage of the 4%' for a few months.

Once the accounts are open, you can deposit what you like and do the 'vantage shuffle' to your hearts content!

Edit: Just applied for another via their homepage via the existing customer option - even though it didnt ask for any existing details or want to log me on to the online banking. Its gone through OK so lets see what happens.
The extra account is showing online now so thats 5 in total. Upgraded to Vantage with no problems. Took less than 3 working days.

Just checked again and now shows, but only giving me the option to upgrade to a SILVER with Vantage which I don't want.

Is there a back door way to get round this so I don't have to call?

You have to scroll down to the bottom, select compare other accounts (or similar) then scroll to the bottom again and select vantage.

They do everything they can to stop you finding it.
