  • If you get extra lean it would be about 2.5 points for 100g depending on the brand and normal lean mince is around 4 points. Best to go to WW site or here:http://mywn.co.uk/points/ and put in the exact number of cals/sat fat so you can be accurate.

Points wise I think sweet potato is just slightly higher than normal potato; both are 1 point for 100g although normal potato is 2 for 200g and SP is 2.5 for the same amount. I'd go with whichever you like the taste of, the thought of SP on a shepherds pie is not appealing to me!

Thanks for that, no i don't like the idea of sweet potato on shepherds pie either but i was convinced by someone that it was far better and healthier.
Think i will stick to normal potato on top.
  • I made shepherds pie last night and in total was 6.5 points each and would serve 4, I had one quarter my skinny oh had 3/4.

Below is the ingredients I used

500g Pork Mince - was actually really nice
    4 Carrots
    Loads of Mushrooms
    Loads of Onion
    700g Potato for the mash
1/4 pint of milk for mash
Gravy - half a points worth
    Worcester sauce - 0 points!!
    Sweetcorn

I know its not traditional shepherds pie but was really yummy

    morning all!
just had my wi and its a STS this week. Have had a very up and down week so this is not such a bad result!
Have planned next weeks meals and there are no high-point dinners on there, plus bought some houmous, celery sticks, carrot (to make sticks) and pitta for work lunches. Plenty of bananas and clementines in the fruit bowl and some frozen raspberries to defrost as I fancy them. For me, the weeks where i get organised are the ones where I lose weight - so fingers crossed!

For any Morrisons shoppers, the Oats so Simple is on half price at the moment (not strictly WW but I know there are lots of fans on this board!) plus their free magazine is out with some recipes including a tasty looking Italian style roast dinner for 5.5 points and a Spicy Asian Beef dish at 5 points.

Good luck for the week ahead and thanks for keeping the thread going strong! :T

Is anyone expert on starbucks and costa.

I have been saving points and thought I'd have a cake with my coffee when out shopping this weekend. I've just looked up points for starbucks and lemon drizzle cake is coming up as 3 points per slice! Can this be correct? All other cakes seem to be a huge amount more. I will definitely choose it but don't want to think I'm eating 3 points when indeed it is 13 or something.

    Any experts?

Sweet potato is amazing for the top of fish pie. I think you need less as it is more flavourful and the advantage of it over normal potato is that you don't really need to add any butter or anything to the mash :)

I had a Tesco Lighter choices Moussaka last night and it was delicious, good sized portion and only 3 1/2 points, have no idea how it is so low but I highly recommend it, would be lovely with a large helping of rocket and a glass of red :)

well today i've had a bit of a naughty day in terms of choices... well, i'm within points though. i sort of fell asleep in the afternoon (i get friday afternoons off!) then craved sugary things!

in future i will also document good food choices i make!

Katy I think you need to be way less harsh on yourself, it wasn't naughty if you stayed within your points :)

I think a good thing I have learnt is that if I have a sugar craving then having a can of diet coke or something will stave it off, another fave is the options hot chocolate sachets, one of those with a pink n white is only 1 point and that's a good sized snack in my eyes. I like to get cans of drink from poundland, 4 for a pound so that isn't too un MSE :)

Just finished the curry from The Big Fat Diet Show

The curry works out at 3.125 points per person so I have rounded to 3.5 then I had 125g of rice for 2.5 so a curry for 6 points!! Which I think is fab, I also had a naan bread for 6 points as couldnt resist!

Much healthier than one from the takeaway and not bad tasting!

Ooo and I found new pink and whites today - they have some jam through them. Tasted nice, going to microwave one tomorrow so will let you know how that goes.
