Hi there, can I join you?
I have started following the old style WW plan again today after a bit of a break. I've never been to classes but my husband and I used to weigh each other weekly and a friend got us the shopping guide. We just couldn't justify the price of going to the meetings.
I first started WW 2 years ago and lost 3 1/2 stone in 7 months, getting me to top of normal BMI. I was pleased as punch having always had issues with my weight. However, I found out I was pregnant 3 days after I got to goal!! So 9 months later I was back to my original weight but at least that included a baby etc
LO is 8 months old now and only having 2 BF a day, so I don't feel that me doing WW should affect him any more. So I've 1 stone 6lbs to go to get back to target. Have lots of PMA at the moment with fresh 'weight loss graph' drawn up (how sad am I!!) and home made trackers printed off. Really want to hit target before I go back to work in April.
So are many of you doing the old style points system too? I don't see the point for us in forking out for new books when the old way worked.♥ Worrying does not empty tomorrow of it's troubles.... it empties today of it's strength ♥0 -
First meeting tonight !!! Very nervous - am sure I will be the only bloke there, but I can't put it off any more.
As a total newbie to this, the ProPoints seems quite easy to understand - what's the difference to the old one then?0 -
I was losing weight quite well, but have come to stop and haven;t lost anything for 2 months. I have looked at weight watchers on line, and as I have never done it before, is it easy to understand and get started.0

I was an avid follower of the discovery plan but am doing far better on pro points. The difference is the science behind the plan on the old plan which was devised 16yrs ago the scientists thought the way to losing weight was cutting the amount of saturated fats and calories. This also meant that you could use your points for lots of high sugar foods. The new plan understands that protein an fibre are an important part of weight loss and that foods rich in these need more digestion thus burning more calories but keeping us fuller for longer, it also recognises that fruit is important that is why it is now free.
I had all the books, calculator etc for the old diet but if we want to lose weight in a sensible way and keep it off for longer then we should change to the new diet.I downloaded a free app for my mobile that works the pro points out so it doesnt have to cost much.Im not sure if people following the old diet should be posting here as that is no longer the ww diet.
And Id rather be eating bacon at 1 pro point a rasher than 1.5 points a rasher on the old diet!!0 -
Well - I'm joining you all for the Weight Loss journey!
I've decided it's been long enough, life it too short to not be happy! I am going to a WW meeting tonight, and can't wait to make changes to my lifestyle that I know will make me enjoy it even more.
I will be sure to check back here for encouragement and tips, I know guys will help me keep on track!0 -

Im so glad you said that, the amount of people that say to me life is too short to diet is amazing. They are usually trying to get me to indulge in unhealthy eating, my life too, is too short to spend it wanting to be something different and having no confidence because of my weight.
I affectionatly now call these friends my "toxic friends" , funnily enough it is usually the overweight friends who are toxic.0 -
Just thinking about joining weightwatchers for the first time ever, so would appreciate any words of advice at all.0

Hi there Marg2k8,
I joined WW and went to a couple of meetings to learn the basics and make sure I understood everything, before ditching the meetings and going online and tracking my points from there, it worked out cheaper.
I still do weekly weigh ins (naked!) at home at the same time each week (first thing Wednesdays!)
The biggest thing I noticed when I started weighing and tracking food is that I wasn't necessarily eating the wrong foods, I was just eating far too big portions for my size!
The good thing about WW is that nothing is forbidden, if you know you are having something quite substantial for your dinner, you have less points for lunch etc.
Its common sense really, but so many of us have bad eating habits and common sense goes out of the window.
Good Luck and if you need any help, feel free to ask, people are very friendly on here0 -
Hi all
Can I please join?
I got to goal weight in Sept 10. I was attending class about once a month but hadn't been since the end of Nov.
I went in yesterday and I had put on 4lb over Xmas which I know isn't the end of the world but I was already at the top end of my ideal weight. I would like to lose 10lb in total.
I know that WW works and I'm hoping that the new propoints system (which I got last night) will give me the kick up the bum I need.
Thanks
