Wow, that's fab news! I don't even know where to start with getting a divorce, so any tips most appreciated!
Think it was probably worth delaying the credit card payment to give your daughter a fantastic birthday. Next week isn't a long time to wait.
Good luck with the job!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -

If you've got joint finances you can ask for what's called a clean break/consent order which removes any liability for joint finances and prevents of you from having any claim in the future against each others finances (if one of you won the lottery, had a pension etc, neither would be able to claim for anything).
You can also go for a contact order for the kids which'll sort out a contact arrangement if you haven't sorted anything out already or if there's problems.
If you're entitled to legal aid it'll cover the cost of everything, and you can go to
http://www.communitylegaladvice.org.uk/en/legalaid/
and you can calculate it.
If you don't get legal aid you can make a claim for costs against your ex, or you can split the fees, whichever is best.
You can do a DIY divorce online if you're ok with paperwork, but generally if there's kids involved or joint finances you'd be best off going through a solicitor, or if your ex would defend it.
If eerything is straight forward you can be divorced within 3 months depending on how busy the courts are. My divorce wasn't defended, but as we needed a consent order it took a little bit longer and has taken about 6 months.Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

Thanks hon. :T
We will have been separated for 2 years in October so I guess we will just wait until then, although it's fair to say there has been a fair bit of adultery in that time! :rotfl: (Although not nearly enough, in my opinion!!)
The finances are pretty settled, I'm buying him out of the house as we speak, and he's been good about paying maintenance - don't think we will need a contact order either although I guess you can't predict if things will be less amicable in the future.
Maybe he will divorce me, if I put it off long enough!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -

Bare in mind there'll still be a financial link between you two on your credit files... which is exactly the reason I just applied for a notice of disassociation online with experian now I've got my consent order. lolTotal 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

Congratulations...I think. No, I'm sure! It just feels like an odd thing to congratulate someone on, so maybe congratulations is the wrong word, but it's more of a 'congratulations in getting through it without losing the plot and on conducting yourself as a grown up even when others weren't necessarily doing'......oh I'm waffling now!!! Just congrats!!
:rotfl:
Will you be celebrating?"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
