when i do application forms in the jobs part should i even mention that job it was my 1st job should i say i was traveling or what.
I agree with pinkshoes – there is NO WAY you can pretend you were travelling for that long. And what would you do if an interviewer asked you a bit about your travels, and worse still, had spent a lot of time in whichever country/countries you claimed to have been to? They'd soon realise you were lying, and would probably come to the conclusion that the time you couldn't account for had been spent in prison...I was initially going to suggest leaving the job off the CV, but if you've been there 6 years, there is NO WAY you can say you've been travelling for that long.
The most important thing on a CV/application form is what you have done most recently. Being sacked for gross misconduct puts you at an immediate disadvantage. In your shoes, I would probably look to go into some sort of training – play the old career change card. Perhaps enrol on a college course and spend a year or so studying and/or acquiring new skills? You could then use your tutors as referees.
Unfortunately, I agree. Yes, of course you should be given a second chance, but if I had to choose between two employees who were equally capable of doing the job but one had a criminal record and the other didn't, I would undoubtedly choose the one without. That's life I'm afraid.Personally, i wouldn't employ someone who was caught stealing under ANY circumstances, even to do the most menial task.

yeah sounds fair enough just dig sum digging threw my certificates and found my warehousing apprenticeship i did and i finished that in 2007 so im thinking of doing another apprenticeship in different area as i need some income to pay bills etc.

I used to employ a lot of people in my team and sorry but I wouldn't hire anyone with a criminal record or who had been dimissed for gross misconduct either... Is your employer following up on criminal charges? Are they likely to? (How much did your thefts cost them?) The seriousness of the theft might slightly help you if it is minor - I have a feeling it's not as it was ongoing for 18 months...
Definitely don't leave it off the CV - being anything other than honest will more than likely do nothing more than cause you to be dismissed if or when a new employer finds out you have lied to them.
I'm a little concerned though from your replies etc that infact you're not particularly sorry - you're just sorry you were caught... If I have that wrong then I appologise, but if you're genuinely sorry you might want to work on putting that across better - especially for potential interviews/accompanying letters etcDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Could I suggest that you spend your time out of work looking at your literacy skills? The JCP should be able to arrange some support on this, and it will really improve your prospects of getting new employment.Gone ... or have I?0

An apprenticeship sounds like a good idea. Click the "Apprentices" button at the top of the page, and from there, using the menu on the left, you can find the answers to any questions you might have. thanks every1 for the comments there is sum people who wanna help instead of criticise without bein all negative and no positives. im going to ask at the jobcentre tuesday see what they say and what my options are at the moment thanks again for the coments

i have apologised to the company itself and i know what i did wrong why i did it is no excuse yeah ive had my problems hence why i did what i did and yes it being followed up by the police it was my 1st and last offence its not like me to do somthing so stupid like that.
im just lookin to put myself on the write track and learn from my mistakes0 -
