basically i was sacked for theft wat i totally regret i had done.i have personal reasons to it and im sorting them now.2 questions i need help with,
1)i had a investigation in wat happened and that got the sack after i was told by the investagators that it stays confidential. But 1 of them have told other employees what went on and everything.

what should i do next who should i complain to cus rumours are going round like wild fire.

Ok, you made a mistake but you have handled it maturely by owning up and deciding to turn your life around. So direct all your efforts from here on in towards building a new future. And I would suggest not going trough with a complaint.

Yes, you could complain about the rumours flying around but would it really make a difference? It won't improve the situation you are in, and it may even backfire by leaking out and adding more fuel for the gossip machine. If it was me in your position, I'd want to become yesterday's news with people which is the foundation for rebuilding your life and reputation.. And that means not giving them more fuel 'today'.
2)when i do application forms in the jobs part should i even mention that job it was my 1st job should i say i was traveling or what.
any help would b so much appreciated
    big mac:confused:

How long were you in the job for? I'd only leave out information where I could, don't make things up.

    1. Forget the confidentiality of this. If someone is caught stealing and fired for it, no business requires a press release. It becomes common knowledge as many of your former work mates would be interviewed aswell.

    2. Put what you feel like on an application form. Most people tell lies now anyway. I am trying to recruit someone into a well paid job (£42K+) at the moment and very few od the CV's are standing up to scrutiny.

Whether you like it or not.
Whether you can accept it ir not.
No-one likes a thief regardless off any mitigating circumstances. As someone said earlier.....you are screwing everyone over.
If anything i think you have been lucky that your former empoyer didn't call the police. If you rock the boat they may well do.

Personally, i wouldn't employ someone who was caught stealing under ANY circumstances, even to do the most menial task.

Tough situation mate, at least you have taken the right step forward and admitted to having a problem with gambling. Stealing is never justified but as someone who has dealt with this sort of situation (I had to sack someone after he was caught stealing to fund a gambling addiciton, we got him help), things will get better.

Good luck with everything you do in the future

Everyone deserves a 2nd chance. It's no wonder with attitudes like that criminals who have served their time return to crime as very few people will give them a 2nd chance.

To the OP don't lie on your CV but if the job was a menial job and you weren't there very long i'd just leave it out from the CV. Obviously if you were there for 5 years you have no choice to add it in. But either way if your getting interviewd by woody01 your screwed as your going to look like a thief or a lazy sod for not working for the last 5 years!!

    Good luck though

How are you tackling your gambling addiction. On your own or through an organisation? If through an organisation, they might be able to give advice on jobseeking, or refer you on.

I'd start with your local JobCentre, they have a referral network and links with local employers. Then there's specialist recruitment agencies like http://www.talent.co.uk/index.php and organisations like Nacro, although they specialise for people with criminal records, they might have some advice over the phone.

I was initially going to suggest leaving the job off the CV, but if you've been there 6 years, there is NO WAY you can say you've been travelling for that long.

Personally I'd just try and be honest, and see how far that gets you.

Put the job on the CV, and in an interview, if they ask you why you left, tell them about your gambling habit, what happened, and what you've since done to help yourself.

I think that would be easier than trying to lie about 5 years of travelling! Try and turn any negative into a positive.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
