Hi ladies, i've been a serial lurker for ages! We are getting married in Hampshire on 16th Sept 11 - ( which is also my 40th bday)
So far
The invites have gone out
photogragher booked
dj booked
steel pan band booked
Venue booked
My dress ordered
wedding and birthday cake ordered
rings paid for and recieved
registrar booked.
I'm sorting out the flowers next weekend,
Still need bridesmaids dresses and a flowergirl dress
Shoes
Still have'nt decided on hair and make up or whether or not to have favors.
Hopefully going to Mexico for our honeymoon but we have'nt booked it yet as we have a 11 month old baby. Her grand parents are coming to look after her for the week that we are away but i'm still not sure whether or not i can leave her, so i'll make the decision closer to the time.
Is there anything else i should have done by now???

Yes. Hi I am getting married 4 months today and have got to admit I am terrified. But that's because I have 4 months to plan everything! We only booked our wedding on Saturday which was 5 hours before my partner even proposed. We were meant to be getting married in August 2012 but the venue that I have always dreamed about getting married in closes down at the end of this September, so I had to grab the only chance.
I already have my wedding dress but need to get it altered, venue booked, reception sorted, food sorted, and got quite a bit of it done already. But I am really lucky as me and my partner help to run our local Sports Club so have got my reception donated as my wedding present from the rest of the committee.Remember never judge someone that makes a mistake, because in six months time it may be you that makes the next mistake.0 -
Oh vesper sounds like you are going to have a busy 4 months lol
it can be done though i'm sure!
I think I have pretty much everything booked now. Just the painful bit of shelling out all the cash to be done
So far:
Venue booked and deposit paid
Flowers booked, deposit paid
Band booked
DJ booked, deposit paid
My dress paid for and getting altered at the minute, shoes bought, bracelet and earrings bought
Bridesmaids dresses bought, shoes bought for them
Men's suits booked and paid for
Photographer booked
Cars booked, deposit paid
Been to the registrar to give notice and paid everything.
Invites and RSVPs ordered
Rings bought
Still to do:
Jewellery for bridesmaids
Necklace for me
Grooms shoes/cufflinks
Favours
Post invites
See venue to sort out final details
Helps me to get it all sorted in my head if it is written down!0 -
Hey
Everyone seems to be getting on really well. I can't believe its only 19 weeks on Sunday until we get married :eek::eek:
When we started wedding planning we had 18 months to get everything done and we did go through stages of organising but it was always don't worry theres plenty of time and now we have so much to do and not much time!
Still need to do the following;
- Jewellery for me
- Gift for best man
- Hair and make up
- Favours
- Make day and evening invitations
- Finalise guest list
- Table plan
- Music for ceremony and first dance
I think there is something i have forgotten but can't think at the moment!
I know what im doing for my day time invitations but the evening invites i do not have a clue!! Im also struggling with what to do with favours i just keep changing my mind and keep spending money on things im not going to use.
I've taken next week off my work so am looking forward to spending a full week to try and get some things organised! I want to make my day time invites next week.
Hope everyone elses preparations are coming on well

Hi All
It's making me excited reading all your posts! It's lovely to know we are all in the same boat
I am after some advice please!
In the process of making all the invites at the moment - when are you all sending out yours? We havent sent save the dates but as we are having a tiny ceremony we have told everyone the date, its just the evening crowd that don't know. RSVP has to be end of July/beg Aug as venue need to know final details 5 weeks before. So when would you suggest sending them out?
Also trying to work on BM dress, which is more stressful than my dress! Only having my sister as BM, she is also giving me away as we have lost my Dad and my Mum is actually marrying us! So she needs something a little different, and i think we have found the dress just need to decide on colour! I keep changing my mind but am thinking of a blue colour, so the 'theme' would be blue and grey - what do you think? What colours are you all having?
bigbear - we are date twins

I know what you mean about the BridesMaid dresses Brucie Bonus. I've been looking at them for my friend's little girl who will be my only Bridesmaid and they are more expensive than my dress (although in defence mine was an ebay jobby!!! Thinking about getting her a cute normal nice dress rather than a typical dress as although I don't begrudge spending that kind of money on her, I would like her to have something that at least she can get a couple of more wears out of. She is at the age when she is growing all the time (6yrs) so nothing will last much longer than up til xmas time. Does any one know any good (cheap) places that I can get some nice BM shoes? again I want to get her something she can use again.
We have got a purple (almost cadburys purple) and silver theme for our wedding. And what a pain it was to find that kind of purple ties!!! Have finally got some for the bestman etc, but need something slightly different for the OH.
Just looking at cake stands at the moment as I plan to make my own cakes and I can't believe how expensive they are again. I swear people make the things that we can't reuse the most expensive items!! grrrrr.
Right off to pay the deposit on the venue and have a proper look around.Remember never judge someone that makes a mistake, because in six months time it may be you that makes the next mistake.0 -
I can sympathise on the bridesmaid's dresses. I bought mine from ebay and asked my bridesmaids for their sizes. My MOH swore that she was a size 10, so I bought that size. Brought it to her to try on and the zip wouldn't even nearly fasten. So I said, no worries, I'll return it and get a bigger size, but she refused to let me and said she'd diet into it. Forward on and she's still swearing that she'll diet into it, and I've had to buy the size 12 just in case, but not tell her and just let her think she fits into it.
Have you looked at Debenhams vesper? They've got a sale on the little bridesmaid's dresses.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -
So I was due to get married in September 2012, but my venue decided this week that they will no longer be offering weddings after September 2011...so I have moved it forward by a year. I have nothing planned, I have no ideas and my venue blows most of my budget (but it HAS to be there!)...anyone got a list/tips/calming words to offer...?0

haha know what you mean, I am in exactly the same boat. I suppose it depends on what kind of wedding you want ie small and intimate or big and luxurious.
Luckily I am only having a relaxed one and back to the Sports Club that me and my HTB run, so there isn't much to organise in the reception terms. Is your venue your reception venue as well? If not try things like sports or social clubs, our place has a lovely function room with plenty of outside space for gazebos etc and we only charge £30 for the day. Don't get me wrong it isn't the most luxurious place but its clean and better than a sticky floored pub. Like I said it depends on what you want.
I have learnt over the last week just not to panic after several days of running around like a headless chicken.Remember never judge someone that makes a mistake, because in six months time it may be you that makes the next mistake.0
