Can't believe how quickly it's going!!!
Still in the limbo stage. We do menu tasting next month and then we meet with the baker to confirm the cake plans the month after.
A friend of H2Bs is making our invites which is really worrying me as I have no idea what they'll look like and no control over it.
I am a bit worried about still fitting into my dress what with all the Easter eggs I've munched.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -
We are getting married on 10th September! Our venue for the service and the reception are both in the Peak District.
Most of the big stuff is booked, venue, marquee, caterer, photographer.
Next for us is getting the website finished (using the free Google Sites) and sending our handmade invitations out! :rotfl:0 -
Hi everyone! I'm a newbie to this posting thing, I'm getting married to my lovely fella on 10 September 2011 at Kelmarsh Hall in Northants.
Same day as usHas anyone got any suggestions for table centres that don't involve flowers/candles? My H2B and future MIL suffer from hayfever and I'm not that keen on having fake flowers, thinking could use this as an opportunity to do something different than fishbowls/mirrors/tealights! any suggestions welcome please!
My sister had the same problem at her wedding - she made her own centerpieces with big fluffy feathers like a plume coming out of a vase - lol that sounds terrible but its just my description - they looked great.
Balloons would be another alternative.0 -
gosh you are all so organised!! we still have so much to do!
the church is booked and paid for and the service is pretty much written.
the venue is booked but not paid anything yet, we only need to pay for the food and we cant decide between simple pie & peas (£6/head) or a buffet (£7.95/head), personally I hate buffets but I think that will be the cheaper option as they only charge for a certain number of guests (ie. if you have 100 guests they charge for 80).
I know where I am getting my dress from (just need to drop a size before ordering) and that is going to cost £160 max.
my bridesmaids are buying their own dresses and my flower girls parents' are buying theirs.
The rings are ordered.
Fh is designing the invites-really need to get a move on with this though!
probably just getting to the church in a taxi (I quite like the idea of a nice shiny black cab!).
still need a photographer.
got FH's suit but he's lost a bit of weight so will probably need to change it.
I want to make the cake.
I'm making the decor-mexican papel picado in white with a bit of red.
what else do I need to do? I'm getting very anxious because we're so behind! Argh!0 -
I thought I had posted here but I guess not! We're getting married on 9th September, after six years of being engaged and 20 years of being together. We decided on our 20th "anniversary" that it was about time. It's a very small do, 16 people including us, in the local register office. We haven't fully decided on the reception venue yet but the local Chinese looks like a fair prospect and we've eaten there a fair few times.
So what do we have sorted so far? Well... not much with just over four months to go LOL! Ceremony, transport for bride, ring for groom, invitations are done (handmade for under a tenner by my mum and I) but not yet sent, and all guests have been advised of the date. I've looked at dresses on ebay as we're on a very tight budget and seen a few that I like but I've been going to the gym twice a week since the start of the year to try and tone up/lose weight (the latter with no success) and I'm leaving it until the end of June before I get measured for a dress. My fianc! is going to choose the honeymoon destination and it'll be a last minute thing to see what we can get within budget (about 2k - honeymoon's the most important bit!)
Stepdaughter and I are going to a wedding fair at Kent County Showground on Sunday though, I had better leave my credit card at home just in case..."...And if it don't feel good, what are you doing it for?" - Robbie Williams - 'Candy'0 -
Hey Alexelisey! Sounds lovely! £2k for the honeymoon sounds pretty good to me!
As for dress - I've just posted elsewhere to say check your local Oxfam or other charity shop. Our Oxfam has a dedicated bridal section with 150ish dresses that all look clean and in good condition, and a very lovely short white one in the window over the last couple of days!
Good luck, congratulations and enjoy! xIf you have nothing constructive to say just move along.0 -
anyone not got their invitations sorted yet?
I got some samples but the one I like best is £3.50 per invitation  so trying to source something similar for cheaper, or find the materials (and time) to do them myself.
Thought I wasn't stressing about it but had a dream the other night that it was the day of the wedding and I still hadn't sent out the invites so noone would know to turn up lol I was soo stressed in my dream, was panicking when I woke up!0 -
H2Bs friend is making our invitations. I can't really complain because she's doing it as a present, but I'm really freaked out about it because if I hate them, I can't just go and get something else. Plus I have to wait til she has time.

I sound like such an ungrateful moo,
lol I know how you feel though, mum has taken it upon herself to ask a woman she knows to make my wedding cake... this woman makes lovely cakes but has never done a wedding cake in her life! and mum has told her "just charge whatever it costs you" (typical northern ireland way of doing things, get the job done then ask what it costs afterwards!!)0 -
Does anyone else feel like time is running away with them? Its only just over 4 months and we have so much to d and dont know where to start sorting it all out! I wish we were eloping!!!!0
