One query, do I have to register it? It is coming up as only valid for 30 days - I can't remember my son registering?
I'm not familiar with the current version.

All you had to do before was to put in a few details and an email addy, after clicking the prompt, they would then send a FREE key within 24hrs, which you copy/pasted into the appropriate box.

I have never knowingly got any spam via them, or even other direct contact, so a bit of a rarity.

You would get 12mths added to your 30 days.

One little warning, make sure you don't select the paid-for version, it was quite easy to do at one stage.
    Move along, nothing to see.

Just a wee update ... I decided to go with the McAfee beta as I've had no problems using the subscription version and I'm used to it. I had no idea I could get this for free so I'm delighted! :j

Thanks a million to all of you for the advice, you're brilliant! :T:T:T
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)

Macafee is a resource hungry antivirus. Try Clam AV in partnership with Immunet http://www.clamav.net/lang/en/about/win32/

Yes, I had read McAfee was resource hungry all right. I have never noticed any problem but then I only use my laptop for internet, email, mp3s and MS office. Maybe I don't know what I'm missng out on speed-wise but everything seems to be running fine *crosses fingers* :)

This is my first day of the beta version - not sure if that is worse than the subscription version but I guess I will find out!

If there's anything else bad about it, please let me know!
