Remove AVG before - from the control panel, then use the 32bit removal tool from here

I've been reading this thread and have decided to change from AVG to MSE.

When downloading MSE it suggests uninstalling current virus programs. Is this wise or essential? Can I disregard the message and remove AVG after MSE is in place?
Hi Martin, as you can gather;) I have nothing against MSE but my preference is still with Avast. Just awesome IMO  .

Can't get on with the interface on that (maybe it's just me), but I find Avira much more friendly.

It's often been criticized for that weakness I agree; personally, it never bothered me and the new interface in Version 5 puts paid to any weakness (relative to) IMO  .

Can you point me to any screenshots of the new interface?
I remember the old being that grey thing with all the roll-out side bits.

I have Avast on both the desktop and laptop and really like it, once I got used to the interface. I didn't like it to start with, but persevered.

I like that Avast actually "tells you" when it has updated with sound. I have MSE on the netbook and don't like that it only seems to update before you schedule a scan. I'd rather it updated daily and scanned weekly.

Oh, I haven't been notified that there is a new version of Avast? Will have to update.

busenbust: Thanks. Think I'll download it and give it another try. Is the Avira uninstaller OK on it's own or do I need something special?
