No - but it should be moved to another board
I agree, it's definitely worth complaining to any company who give bad service or sell products that aren't up to scratch. I actually work as a Complaints Officer (I'm not saying where in case I get bombarded with letters from MSErs!!) and we act on all customer feedback. We dont necessarily give out freebies all the time (the customer is NOT always right!), although we do where we feel its justified. We use the feedback to find out what's gone wrong and see if there is anything we can do to improve our products/services and we always make sure we give a full explanation to the customer of what went wrong and what we've done to resolve it.

I'd advise anyone not getting a response to their complaint to write to the Chief Exec of the company. If they're anything like our company a complaint to the top bod usually gets a rewarding response!

Just remember, if you dont complain, nothing gets changed...and it keeps people like me in a job!;)

I think the OP should change the title of this thread..
It is a bit misleading saying 'free stuff by post' when we are/should be discussing getting reasonable compenastion by post, for things we've paid for that haven't been up to scratch.

    No
I found a piece of blue glove in a rustlers chicken sandwich last year, so I wrote to complain but being the naive person I am I included the item as I thought they might not believe me otherwise.
Result: Two 20p off vouchers received two weeks later (june 20th) with a valid until date of the 25th! I was very miffed so I wrote again and never heard a thing back.

I've edited this because reading some of the other posts people might abuse this and use other peoples problems just to get free stuff.

surely buying dairy crest /frij you could see, or at least feel it wasn't the right weight?
I'm sure having picked up 4 pinters of milk so many times I'd know if it felt wrong?

They best one was one from my mother in law.

My in laws treated 8 of us to a 2 week all inclusive holiday to Antigua and in the brochure it said every person was entitled to $25 of chips for their casino every night of our stay. When we got there they refused to honour it so when we got back they complained and after quite a few months they got a cheque for £3000, which worked out what we would have had in chips and compensation for dissapointment.

They have just been to the caribbean again and the sales person assured them the hotel was finished and sent them a letter saying if the hotel wasn't finished they could have their money back. Needless to say, the hotel wasn't finished so they ended up getting a free 2 week holiday.

I do hope you mean you are going to complain about genuine problems, and not just for the sake of it? As it sounds a little dubious and we don't want people to get the wrong idea about this thread.
    Apologies if not.

I agree and I really think this thread shouldn't be here.

If you have a genuine complaint or praise to give then you should give it regardless of whether you are going to be compensated/thanked.

People shouldn't be on here boasting about which companies are the best/worst to complain to. Unfortunately you will always get some people who abuse the system and giving them information on the best companies to abuse is not a good idea.

I complain occasionally and if I get some sort of voucher in the post its treated as a bonus. I've also praised companies - not because i want vouchers but because I work in retail and know how important it is to recieve praise from the public.

Please dont abuse these companies - you will make it so much harder for people with genuine complaints.
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...

I agree...I think this thread should be deleted as soon as possible. This thread is only providing suggestions to chancers who will ruin it for everyone.
