I always complain when I feel something is wrong, I usually wait until after the event an make a written complaint, it seems to have more effect.

My latest complaints have been -

Wilkinson Sword - The blade came unattached from the razor and I cut my knee. Sent a letter and was sent back a £5.00 to replace the razor I had to send them. They then wrote back with £15.00 of vouchers.

Pizza Hut - Sent £5.00 voucher as we were not told that the restaurant had stopped doing the refills on soft drinks and we were charged for four.

Brighton Hlton Metropole - refunded one nights stay on a recent three night stay due to a long list of problems, £93 back so far but I am still not happy.

When did pizzahut stop doing refils??

I was there on saturday and my restaurant still does free refills.....?

Until I started reading MSE I'd never complained about anything in my life, I'd sit at home and grumble but not do anything about it. But now if I have a problem I tell the supplier. I've actually done very well but they've all been things i've had problems with.

I complained to Pampers because I had 2 packs of nappies that the side tags kept breaking away from the nappy making the nappy fall off leaving my daughter mortified when she weed on the floor. I got £20 in vouchers

I complained to Cambells when I found what looked like a pubic hair in a can of mushroom soup. Turned out to be a piece of the fibre compost the mushrooms are grown in and I got £10 vouchers.

I got a free Bounty bag from Mothercare and when I got it home the milk was 3 months out of date, the date on the Bounty Bag was 5 months out of date. I got £15 mothercare vouchers.

A toy I had from Fisher Price developed a fault after 6 months. Emailed and said how dissapointed I was as wanted to use it for my 2nd daughter. I returned it to them and received 2 toys (I for each child) worth about £60 and was able to buy a replacement for the original for £15

And the best CS award goes to Bump to 3, who make baby sleeping bags Grobags. I sent a photo of my 2 month old daughter's toes after her nap. The threads of the toweling lining of the grobag had come loose and wrapped around her toes. I had to send the sleeping bag back (which was actually bought from somewhere else) and in return I got 4 new grobags. And as I didn't need small sizes (already had them from my other daughter) they gave me larger ones for daughter no1 and 2 very lightweight ones for summer, worth almost £100.

Have also got a couple of freebies by asking. Bought my daughter a Pepper Pig playset. Shortly after the advert on tv said it now came with a play mat. Emailed them and they sent me a mat.

The motor on my cot mobile went, rang the helpline on the back and got a free replacement (much better than having to spend £20 on a new mobile)

So thanks to MSE (and my children) I've saved loads of money and no longer sit and grumple if I'm not happy with something

No - but it should be moved to another board
A couple of weeks ago I called 'hipp' baby milk as a tub of formula I opened was solidified into one big lump.
They sent packaging for me to return it which I did right away, but they claim to have not recieved it and say theres nothing they can do now.

Does anyone have any ideas what I should put in my letter of complaint?
It cost me £6.99..plus the hassle of sending it back.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Tell them you would expect much better service from a big name like themselves if they didn't recieved the product back they should take it with royal mail. Follow it up
For thousands of people this Christmas, their must-have gift is far more vital than the latest gadget or toy – it’s blood. Please don’t let the festivities and cold weather prevent you from giving them the ultimate gift… give blood.

ORGANIX BABY FOOD - had to make a complaint because a packet of crisps was less than half full.
Result: Sent two replacement packets. But unfortunately the postman crushed them putting them through the letterbox

Those organix crisps are always half full! And the rice cakes are even worse..I still buy them though as they are tasty for tots and mummies..lol!

    I will do that.

It's lucky I stirred it (or tried to ) before using it as the top layer was powdery...god knows what caused it, my OH thinks maybe the bottom of the box got wet and it hardened once it dried out!?
Glad I didn't give my baby any either way!

oh what a fantasic thread! God i wish i had a qwill! I'm off to but some stamps. any1 know if there is any pre written letter sites/threads anywhere to do this...
I do hope you mean you are going to complain about genuine problems, and not just for the sake of it? As it sounds a little dubious and we don't want people to get the wrong idea about this thread.
    Apologies if not.

Reading these posts gives me the confidence to speak up when services and/or products fall below expectations. It also shows that it's good to bring good service/products to the attention of companies. I also agree that to make false claims is very wrong.

(slight rant there... sorry :o )

Before I joined this site, if something went wrong, I just put up with it. But I was inspired to do something about it after being on here a few weeks. So far I've only complained to WH Smith about an overcharge, and to Tesco when one of their own brand goods leaked it's packaging all over a bag of my shopping. In both cases I got lovely letters back, and generous vouchers of compensation. It really is worth your while to assert yourself when things go awry!
