Nosmartiepants wrote:I bought a roasting chicken from morrisons, upon jointing it, I found what could only be described as a large tumour  in the breast of the chicken, I contacted the store manager who sent a replacement immediately, the next one was fine, he also gave us a bottle of Champagne and asked me to freeze the offending chicken and return it to the store to him personally, as soon as possible, I did return it a few days later, they gave me a refund and I said I would like a full report on the problem with the chicken, as in my opinion it was a cancerous tumour and had we just roasted it rather than portion it, I hate to think of the potential consequences had we eaten it
I have just received a letter apologising for the "off" chicken, obviously not referring to the tumour in the chickens breast, and enclosing a £5 gift voucher, anyone got any good letters for dealing with this one please. What should I expect from them do you think?
thanks xxxx
I used to work for Morrisons.
They were always telling us how important customer service was, they aim to be the "best in town". However I found out that it was more of a "while you're there" basis. When in store you are treated excellently by most members of staff. If you have a problem with a product they will happily exchange it.
That's as far as it would normally go - an exchange. You are very lucky to have gotten the bottle of Champagne and a further £5 coupon, although to be honest I think you deserve more because a tumour is disgusting, obviously it's not their fault but there must be a problem somewhere along the line that needs to be addressed whether it be with how the chickens are looked after or how they are deemed fit enough to be used as food.
I doubt you will get anything more from Morrisons. But it's worth a try I guess.

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate your response, I am most certainly going to push it further, the potential outcome of eating a diseased chicken  could have been horrendous, if anyone has any good letters for this kind of thing, please let me know.

NoHi
Has anyone ever had cause to complain to Iceland? I went to my local store a couple of weeks ago and was browsing through the reduced Xmas stock. I soon realised that although there were two shelves full of reduced stock (all chucked on shelves, in no order) none of them had any prices on. I called a member of staff who informed me that I had to take each individual item to the tills for a price check!! I politely said that this wasn't really acceptable and the items should be priced and asked to speak to a manager. A young gentleman came over and informed me that the manager was off sick for 2 weeks and he was standing in. He agreed with me regarding the prices but when I pointed out that some of the items were out of date (by nearly a week!) he offered to let me have them really cheap!! I wrote and faxed a letter to head office a week ago and am waiting to hear from them.If at first you don't succeed ........Alternative autism therapies should be free!!

 We has a nightmare with Talk Talk who, every month restrict our phone saying we haven't paid the bill. Same routine, spend fortune hanging on the line only to be told it was an error with a)them taking dd details down wrong or b)a crossover in post?? They agreed to take £10 off bill, which is probably what i paid waiting to be connected!
Went to Greggs bakers this morning, to get a drink and sa was rude, abrupt and threw my change back at me - will follow with letter.
My mum had a payg phone where the charger pin was bent and was told it would cost £50 to fix and to buy a new one. She did and kept old one. Last night she got the pin back into place and it works! That surely is an example of bad cs??:rolleyes:0 -

You should have purchased some of the out of date goods and then spoken to Trading standards who would have fined Iceland for every day it was out of date.
I once bought some out of date baby food from superdrug and got £10 compensation from them when i pointed it out. My friend who is a manager for a supermarket said they got off really lightly as if it had been found by trading standards they would have been fined thousands (it was only about a month out of date). I cant remember the exact daily amount but it was alot!!
I know it is a bit late now but that would certainly have taught that particular icelands to be much more careful with their produce. I would certainly do this in future as it horrified me to think of actually not noticing and feeding the baby food to my child at the time...**Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened!**

Does anyone have a postal address for the MD of PC World? OH bought and paid for a £700 laptop through their website 3 weeks ago, it was delivered faulty. It's been collected, only now they're out of stock and CS won't say when he'll get a new one. Thinking a letter might shake things up a bit!2015 comp wins - £370.25
