When I have complained in the past I have found it best to be polite, yet to the point.
It is best to tell them the story of how it happened and why you are unhappy.
Always put at the end "I look forward to hearing from you" or "I look forward to hearing your response" because then you are showing that you want a reply - plus when they reply you know that they recieved the letter.
I normally (makes me sound like I do it alot - lol) explain the situation in a kind but honest manner. Then I explain that it is not the standard that I would expect (obviously you expect crisp crisps! Especially now they have that foil wrapping!) and that I wanted to draw their attention to their problem. I then finish by saying I look forward to hearing from them and then sign off appropriately (faithfully/sincerley).
I hope this helpsMoney saved for Car Tax:

NoI bought 2 bottles of wine in asda and was charged more than it said on the shelf. I enquired at customer services, they confirmed i was charged the wrong price and gave me a gift card for the £2 i'd paid plus £2 because of the mistake.
On another occasion with Asda, I dropped a bottle of vodka taking it from the car,it smashed but I took the neck of the bottle back as the seal wasn't broken and they replaced it.

NoI just want to say thank you soooo much for everyone replying to this post - because of you I've just had my own success!! At Christmas I visited my local Currys.Digital and enquired whether this camera I wanted took an SD card, I was assured it did and so my boyfriend bought me the camera for christmas. I opened it on Xmas day to take photos, and it actually took an XD card. I had to buy one to use for my holiday, I complained to head office and the just sent me a cheque for half the cost. Not the whole cost, but something is better than nothing!!0

NoI've been feeling a bit mean since I've complained twice recently.
So I just sent a compliment email to Head and Shoulders to tell them that their 'citrus fresh' shampoo is excellent.
Incidently, today I spent my "gesture of goodwill" from Primark. The lady serving me was quite rude when I presented my voucher, saying to the person who I presume was her supervisor in a loud voice "SHE must have COMPLAINED that's the only way you can get THESE" which I thought was uncalled for, everyone within 5 metres turned to look at me and it was quite embarrasing. Not sure whether to mention it on my email that I'm going to send thanking their customer services department for dealing with my complaint so well. Any ideas?

Definitely mention it - it's intimidation and it's not on! You shouldn't be made to feel like !!!!!! when the only thing you've done is to suffer their bad service.0 -
No - but it should be moved to another boardBeany_Spoon wrote:I've been feeling a bit mean since I've complained twice recently.

I renewed my contract with Vodafone back in October and really wanted the Sony W810i, trouble is they had just brought out the W850i and were pushing this, they wanted me to pay £100 to upgrade, then £50 but I really dont like paying for phones. So in the end they offered me a reconditioned W810i as they had no new stock.
And it tunred out to be an excellent phone, that is, until Xmas when they phone started playing up a bit then, finaly wouldnt switch on at all.
The phone itself must be fine, as the screen turns on when you are charging or transfering data. So I rang the CS and they arranged for it to be sent to the engineers, and 2 days later my phone was returned !! but in the same state it left me. A note was attahced saying that under warranty it couldnt be fixed because of liquid/moisture damage and I have no recollection of anything like that (but in a house with a 6 and 1 1/2 year old, I cant be sure) happening. So I tried to ring CS again and just got shoved on wait, so I reverted to email, and after one email back completley missing the point of my email, In fury I emailed back asking for the phone to be fixed or replaced or I would cancel my contract and to my suprise got offered a replacement phone.
Later I got an update email, saying that they no longer stock W810i's so I will get the new W850i's0 -

For a start I would have smiled at her and then said in a very loud voice something like:-
"Good guess, I did get it for complaining, in fact it was about rude behaviour by Sales Assistants just like you're displaying now. Who knows Head Office might send me another if I contact them again"
I'm sure that would have wiped the smile off her face!
Or you could have asked to borrow a pen to write down her full name so you got it correct on your next letter of complaint!0 -
YesI bought a roasting chicken from morrisons, upon jointing it, I found what could only be described as a large tumour  in the breast of the chicken, I contacted the store manager who sent a replacement immediately, the next one was fine, he also gave us a bottle of Champagne and asked me to freeze the offending chicken and return it to the store to him personally, as soon as possible, I did return it a few days later, they gave me a refund and I said I would like a full report on the problem with the chicken, as in my opinion it was a cancerous tumour and had we just roasted it rather than portion it, I hate to think of the potential consequences had we eaten it
I have just received a letter apologising for the "off" chicken, obviously not referring to the tumour in the chickens breast, and enclosing a £5 gift voucher, anyone got any good letters for dealing with this one please. What should I expect from them do you think?
