No - but the title needs to changemarcellep wrote:Can I just say I think people are getting a little excited regarding this poor mother who parked in the Disabled space within the carpark @ boots.
Ok Boots is not at fault,
Ok the mother should have parked elsewhere, But come on people we have all done it at one point.
Unless you have been in that situation before then lets be quiet, and try and help the mother.
Having a close family member in a wheelchair you can understand why people are frustrated. A baby is not a disability. Many shopping trips have ended in us going home without even parking due to cars parked in disabled bays without badges, IMHO I think that it's selfish, I'm sorry if this offends anyone but people spend too much time thinking about their needs and not about the consequences. Pay the fine and learn from it. I'm sure the OP wouldn't like it if I parked in a mother and baby space. With Love From The Mistress xx

I've just got 1000 advantage points from Boots.com and my delivery refunded for a late delivery just before Christmas following a complaint e-mail- result!
I wouldn't have complained if it wasn't for this thread. :j0 -
Chocmonster7 wrote:Why did you think you had a right to inconvenience a disabled person just because you have a child?
As for Boots not having nappy changing facilities, do they have toilet facilities for male/female/disabled who spend equally as much in the store or again are you expecting something extra just because you have a child?
Bit harsh I think. I don't believe the mother planned on "inconveniencing a disabled person just because she has a child". Is the difference not obvious between this mother who was in a stressful situation to a person who decided to occupy a disabled space just because they were being lazy?
However, if it were me I would reluctantly accept the fine because the fact is you are not meant to park in a disabled space. But seriously, give this mum a break! Baby changing facilities are not exactly a luxury item - if you have a baby it is a necessity, just as necessary as providing toilets for "male/female/disabled" - NOT "something extra".0 -

I have more than one family member considered disabled, but at the same time, we all know how it feels to be slapped with a fine. Even when we know we're in the wrong, we get !!!!ed off at the person who issued it. Most of us here would have done the same if necesary. Everyone give the lady a break. She didn't come here to be penalised.0 -
Noomg!! wish I hadnt bothered to ask for any advice, I would guess that a few people who have posted here have never had babies though!! and no I dont really feel I was causing inconvienience to a disabled person as I was only away from the car for about 3 minutes, my main cause of upset was I was issued a ticket while I was actually at the car changing the nappy.
Yes, I would expect a larhe boots to have baby changing facilities, no not because I expect something special, but because of the large amount of baby items they sell, they are obviously catering for that sort of a customer and wanting to attract you in.
Anyway thanks to those who were sympathetic, looks like it was an expensive nappy!0 -
when we had our babies there were no such things as mother and baby spaces in car parks, and no such things as retail parks with huge shops - and no such things as changing rooms in stores.
Yet somehow we managed to find parking spaces, walk through towns to buy things for our babies (remember towns, with shops?) and then change the poor sods on a car park or at the side of the road.
Oddly enough, I don't recall getting any parking fines either...0 -
NoHate to say this but there is a hell of alot of disabled bage owners who arnent actualy disabled...
The mobility scheme is proof of this.
Its mite not actualy be the person driving who is disabled, it may be there child or relative, which means the badge is abused (It states that it should only be used when the named is in the car, or your waiting for them ie hospital visit etc)
Many a time we couldnt get a spot as there was only one obviusly very abled bodyed person in the car, so this argument about how its selfish to keep disabled spaces tied up by a mother and baby is rediculus.
Just because theres a badge in the window, dusnt mean the person entitled is actualy there.
Id rather a mother and baby used the spot to someone popping into the supermarket for that nights carryout.0 -
Hi there,
Has anyone any advice about or experience complaining to Wickes?
I had some paving stones delivered - a pallet of 28 - and virtually all of them were very badly damaged at the edges - I counted about 3 that were undamaged. They can't be laid like this and they were the last pack in the store so can't be replaced. They were not on display but out in a locked yard so I did not see them before they were delivered.
I went to the store and asked to speak to the manager about this because you could actually see through the plastic covering that the stones were damaged and I consider that they simply shouldn't have been sent to me in that condition in the first place as it is a waste of my time having to accept the delivery and now having to wait in to get them collected by Wickes. Not only that but I went to some time and trouble to remove a fence panel in order for these to be delivered and then replaced the panel before discovering that the stones were all damaged so that the panel will have to come off again now for collection.
Anyway, the manager refused to come down to talk to me and when I asked to be put through to their Head Office instead this was also refused. I find it incredible that with this sort of problem a manager refuses to at least speak to a customer and go through the motions of coming down personally to apologise and get things sorted out and I would have expected at least a token gesture of goodwill given the inconvenience caused and the disappointment as I will now have to find alternative stones. Of course I know that things can be broken in deliveries but I am mostly annoyed because almost every stone is damaged and the damage was obvious to me and should have been obvious to the store.
Any advice gratefully received. Thanks in advance.

NoTravel_freak you seemed to go in very aggressively asking for the manager first, what was up with speaking to their customer service department? you may have got there quicker if you had been less aggressive. Demanding a manager normally causes shutters to drop.
Kaza, you were wrong to pay the fine if you intended on disputing it, paying the fine means you accepted it and wont do you any good in your dispute. filing a dispute normally puts a freeze on any increases that they may add to it. The parking in a disabled bay is something I cant get around, everyone knows that they are for disabled people that have blue badges, there is alot of misuse of blue badges and the process of getting one can be tough we go through it twice a year for my Gran and granddad the badges are only used if they are with us infact they keep the badges. I get really annoyed when I see none disabled people getting out of cars parked in disabled bays normally just because they cant be bothered to find somewhere else to park and walk to the store. I understand that it is stressfully to have a baby in the car screaming because it has a dirty nappy but a baby is a choice a disability isn't I'm sure my granddad would prefer to have the mobility in his ankle back and have to walk from the car park than not be able to walk properly, hey if he could get his eyesight back he would be ecstatic.
The parking attendant putting a ticket on while you were there was sneaky, but you were parked illegally so they ticket should stand, with all the attacks on traffic attendants I can understand why they don't really want to make contact with the vehicle owner.0 -

Regards,
I personally would have refused to leave the store until this 'rude' manager came to talk to me or i was put through to head office. If there was no result from this i would be tempted to stand by the entrance explaining the lack of customer services to all who wanted to enter the shop in the hope that putting off new customers would get a better reaction.
I know someone who sat in pc world after many problems with a computer he bought, i think he got quite loud in thge end so hopefully it wont come to this? It did work for him though.
definately go back!! and remember that it is not you who is being unreasonable in wanting something that is undamaged.
HTH ?
