Thanks everyone for your help with Brewers Fayre. I've sent an email on the form asking for the address to send a complaint to, as I think Food poisoning is pretty major and I'd like to directly address someone as high up in the company as possible. So far no reply. :(

Wins : McCains garden games set, 2xTickets to Alton Towers, Links of London friendship bracelet, 2xIdeal Home Show tickets, McFly album CD, Virgin Balloon flight for 2 with a case of ScrumpyJack cider and 2 ltd edition jackets, Powerboat racing experience, £50 Virgin voucher, Aerobie Pro flying ring & Rice Krispie squares, Tesco baby pack

  • Bought some catfood from tesco a couple of months ago (Whiskas), and when I got it home, one of the pouches was open, and was crawling with maggots

e-mailed masterfoods and got no reply, so e-mailed them again and got a letter explaining the development of maggots (I remembered from o grade biology, thanks anyway), and a £10 voucher. They did apologise for the delay in replying and the maggots though.

    Decent result.

Before MSE I would probably have thrown it out and chalked it down to experience.
Wha's like us - damn few, an' they're a' deid
    :footie:

    Competition wins:-
July - Magic mince cookbook (first win)

Hey Teedy, fellow glaswegian, just wanted to say thanks for replying, im battling with my conscience as surely at least they've offered a goodwill gesture but it does seem a bit mean considering what may have happened, would it be wrong and unethical to now say I think it was poor, when i didnt say at the time he visited? Any thoughts on this most welcome xx
This above all: to thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man. (SHAKESPEARE, Hamlet, 1600) :kisses2:

Comp wins : Oct : Michael Buble goodies :blushing:
Nov: jar of Baxters red slaw deli toppers
  • Thought I might share this story with you. I didn't send a complaint- I sent a letter telling Muller Light how much I love(d) their desert yoghurts (you know, the apple pie, bakewell tart ones). It was a quite (ok, very!) cringeworthy letter..."It really tastes like a bakewell tart, I can't believe it! The apple pie flavour is fab too, please don't let them be just a limited offer..." etc etc :o

I got sent a £1 - YES- a measly £1 voucher back for muller yoghurts . MOST dissapointed! Then, to add insult to injury, our best man at my wedding 6 months later had managed to source the letter I wrote and read it out in his speech . People were howling with laughter at how corny the letter was!

I am never writing to a company ever again!

Whilst I don't think that it's worthwhile writing the letter, I don't think it was bad. Many companies might just send you a thanks or nothing at all. At least they must have appreciated your comments. IMO its not worth writing letters complimenting the company simply for the gain, there must be some truth in it and then maybe you will be rewarded. However, letters of complaint, when justified, should be rewarded accordingly (that is, if they wish to keep your custom!).

On the subject of Muller: I bought Little Stars jellys for kids from Tesco's last week. I handed them out at dinner time for my 3 children. My 2yr old DD opened hers and took a bite before I noticed it was only half full and covered in white fur! I wrote an e-mail to Muller expressing my disgust. I receive 5 x £1 vouchers in the post a couple of days later.

bought some vimto from tesco a few weeks ago and it didnt taste like normal vimto, I actually quite like the flavour so I contacted them, sent the batch number and recevied letter telling me a case would be delivered, a case of 6 bottles via courier a few hours after I got the letter.

Hmmmm, I'd say they got off lightly. I think you should be able to change your mind - the manager's visit soon soon after the incident sounds like damage limitation on their part, before you'd had a chance to think too much about it. I'm no expert though - you could contact your local CAB for advice...Good luck! Keep us posted.

I complained to woolworths as I didnt like the way a young member of staff passed 3 large boxes over my daughter who was sat in her buggy and placed on my goods that I was purchasing. the sales assistant who was serving me told him to shift them which he did very quickly and over the buggy again and he stormed off. he didnt have a name badge and I was to stressed with 2 young kids to complain to the manager direct so when I got home I did a long email to customer services pointing out there could have been a serious health and safety issue, recieved an email and letter with £15 voucher. But I wont shop at this branch again.

my friend had the exact same problem(but was the little star yoghurts) and was going to leave it but her husband is a microbiologist and telephoned muller and they more or less said never mind for a start then he started to rant about how some people can be allergic to mould and they got £15 pound in vouchers and a cuddly elephant aswell
