Ive got a problem with Tescos at the moment.
I ordered some wine 8 wks ago, tried to cancel it online later that evening & for several days after, but it wouldnt let me. I rang their customer services who tried to cancel it for me, but they couldnt, & was told they would get back to me, they didnt. rang the next day & was told that their technicians were looking into the problem & that it would be cancelled that evening & someone would ring me to confirm, they didnt, so rang the next day & was told that it was cancelled. the wine turned up! I refused the order, but the money was taken from my credit card & ive been ringing & emailling trying to get a refund ever since. Ive lost count of the amount of times ive rang customer services & the Tesco branch where the order came from. Each time ive rang ive been given various excuses & been told to leave it with them & that some one would get back to me, & none have. I emailed head office on Sunday & did actually recieve an email on Monday morning stating that it was receiving their attention, but havent heard anything since. Can anyone advise me on where to go next? Thanks

Something similar happened to me with Sainsburys to you. I had to contact my credit card company and raise a complaint that the goods were never recieved. Might be worth a try?

  • At times like this you need to go straight to the top (We've just had a problem with BT and I'm now of first name terms with the Chairmans Secretary!)

Try using these contact details instead of the Customer Services ones:-

    Tesco PLC
    New Tesco House
    Delamare Road
    Cheshunt
    Hertfordshire
    England EN8 9SL
    Switchboard telephone: +44 (0)1992 632222

And start with Sir Terry Leahy as he is always their "talking head" on business programmes. Details of the other Directors can be found at:-

    http://www.tescocorporate.com/page.aspx?pointerid=0159D6F8F1664C75927343AC9B2A46AC

As Sainthalo has said put a complaint in to your cerdit card company as Tesco have debited it without your permission.

    Good luck! :)

    Thanks.

Sir Terry Leahy is the last person i got intouch with, he did send me an email on Monday morning stating it was now receiving his attention, but nothing since.
  • I think it's fair to give him a prod now either by a return email or a quick call.

Theres a freephone tesco customer service number on http://tesco-complaint.blogspot.com/ and info about other people trying to contact Leahy. It seems it could take a long time (months) to get a response and also you can get ignored.

One guy contacted Tesco and they promised Leahy would reply - a month later and no sign of a reply to a simple issue. The guy complained on Tesco-Complaint (which Tesco are known to read) and suddenly within 24 hours the poster was emailed and told Leahy had always intended to write by letter shortly (yeah right!) and within a few days a letter on doormat.

You have to expose Tesco publicly to get them to react/respond as they have hundreds of new tesco complaints everyday!

  • Brought a kitchen from MFI, after fitting I noticed the workside scratched really easily, complained loads of times to the store and head office and basically was told to go away, eventaully I called trading standards who dictated over the phone some parts of the law ie 'must be suitable for use' etc and I threatened to take them to court, a few weeks later I was invited into my local store to choose a new one, I had it fitted free of charge a couple of weeks after that, eventually sorted and I was happy (it went on for eight months though).
It taught me a valuable lesson though, if I have to complain anywhere in the future, trading standards are a god send as is this site.

Oh and too my horror, they still sell the workside I was complaining about and the staff said to me they know theres a big problem with it!

To be fair though all shiny/gloss worktops scratch very easily - they are made to look good for designer kitchens not well-used family kitchens.
