I was shopping at Next about a month ago and asked an assistant where a particular item was - maybe she was having an 'off day' but she responded in a very rude manner. I ignored it but when I got home I was a bit annoyed - so I emailed them and they asked for details of the assistant etc (I was a bit apprehensive as I didn't want anyone to be sacked!) but they assured me that she would be 'talked to'. Today they sent me an apologetic letter with a £15 voucher! I know the assistant was rude but I do hope that I didn't get her sacked!! - felt a bit guilty later - having said that, the vouchers will do nicely to go towards a pair of shoes!!XX
  • Well i LOVE a challenge of writing complaint letters....

    Heres mine:

OAKLEY: have had various family members who have had their Oakley sunglasses arms snap in the past... i have sent them back to Oakley each time for repair expecting a bill for the repair, and theyve done it FOC and sent it back within a few days - Very very good company!

STAYWELL: Cat flap cracked during one of the midnight chasings my poor cat ensures from bully alleycats.. Staywell replaced no questions asked FOC (and spoke to a lovely man on the phone!)

EMAP: Went to see Beyonce at the MEN arena a few years ago - it was a farce! She didnt come on stage for about 2 hours, then did a poor 30 min set and bogged off! Wrote a huge complaint to EMAP (tour organisers) and got a full refund minus booking fee ((was about £70 for 2 tickets)

GNER - Appalling journey for about 20 people to York from Mcr.... absolutely appalling, they gave me a refund of 50%, wasnt really much consilation for a ruined day out though.

ASDA - Appalling service from their Home Shopping... complained and recieved £10 gift card - wont be using their home shopping again though

ARGOS (additions) - waited for weeks for a £7 stool for a dressing table... took the money and didnt deliver.... millions of letters and phone calls, and got NOWT back! Appalling company to deal with.

Think ive done a fair few others but cant think of them off the top of my head..... Worst companies ive ever complained to and never got a response back off are JMC, Orange, O2

Dealing with complaints in my job i do the opposite when i'm at home and write complaints to various companies. Success so far:-

Phones 4U - total balls up when i took out a new contract and shabby customer service. First letter i received £30 from the branch, then a further £50 from their head office! The third cheque was for £7.99 for the first months worth of phone insurance, which i strickly declined from the outset. Due to this i recovered a £28 bank charge for the direct debit, total of £115.99.

Telewest - when living at home i was set to terminate my broadband agreement. Just before this was due to end my bro took out a connection in his name. They cheekily cancelled my contract without my consent. Received a cheque for £50 for the inconvenience after letter of complaint.

Current complaints - Three mobile and also Carphonewarehouse!!
Young, happy but bogged down with a mortgage!

Have had similar service, and phoned then emailed, but had no response, who did you complain to?
    Thanks

I've found McDonalds to be useless. My OH got a raw burger, he complained at the time and they offered him another one but he felt sick so he couldn't take it. He wrote to McDonalds who said we had to write to the branch manager of the franchise we were at. They never replied.
My Doctor told me that "1 out of 3 people who start smoking will eventually die." The other two apparently became immortal.

No - but it should be moved to another board
I emailed McDonalds through their website once, and received a £5 voucher.

  • I am a complainer. Not just for the sake of it but when I feel that the service or goods that I have received are below the standard that I have been promosed or should expect. The key to a successful complaint is to remain calm and focussed. In addition to the normal sucessesd at Argos and the such like I have had MAJOR success with B&Q this year (approx £3000 refund against a £5500 kitchen installation) and a local Renault dealer (£1800 against a £4500 car purchase for my wife's car). I'm currently enjoying a debate with Phones 4 You, circa £370. If you are honest and coherent in your argument they really do not have anywhere to go!
  • just complained to disneyland paris because some of the rides were shut when we went last month and some broke down. they have given each of us a free hopper ticket to use in both of their parks the next time we visit
