Have been shamed into contacting Endsleigh to praise the staff who dealt with a recent insurance policy sale, off the back of other people's taking 5 minutes to do so.
They were brilliant from the start, and really helpful. Not the cheapest (by v. little), but their attitude swung it for me.

Emailed Shloer some months ago with a genuine complaint, and got not answer whatsoever.:( I've read on MSE that there is a Shloer TMF offer going on at the moment, and want to use this opportunity to also write them a letter, and let them know how disappointing their lack of response has been.:(

I emailed Lush (the cosmetics company) when the face cream I bought gave me dry patches on my face. They sent me samples of other creams to see how I get on with them, then sent me a full sized pot of the one I requested together with vouchers! (£10 or £15 pounds worth I think).

However, I don't think you should fire a letter off in the hope of receiving freebies, unless you genuinely have a complaint.
  • No - but the title needs to change
    Hi all MSE'rs

Wanted to start a post where peeps could share their experiences of writing complaint letters & whether they got any result (and more importantly any free stuff!)

Am a bit of a one for writing letters myself but have had mixed results. It seems some companies are only to keen to dosh out freebies whilst others, even when you have a really serious geniune complaint are downright mean.

Doesn't have to be complaint letters either, many companies give away free samples if you write and ask, particularly if you say something nice about them!

Looking forward to reading your stories.... :D
    Great idea
i too had problems with swizzel matlow a few weeks back wrappers not on the chew i phoned today and they are sending me some goodies even though i have thrown the paket away.
    :T
  • I contacted swizzel matlow over a variety bag that i bought but the products advertised on the pack were not the ones inside the pack.
Three weeks later still no reply

I filled my vehicle up with petrol at Sainsbury's petrol station, to be surprised by petrol splashing down my legs and onto my feet. The cut off function had failed.

Asked at kiosk if they had loo/somewhere out the back where i could clean up (i was en-route to work) and explained pump was faulty and the dozy cashier gazed at me blankly and said "Naaah, sorry luv"

Was later sent home from work as petrol fumes on my clothes were making me retch and i was considered hazardous.

Wrote to Sainsburys, and they asked how much compensation i would like!! Asked for £250, but got £150 sent by cheque.

    Back of the net! Result!

Im debating at the moment whether to complain to my local train station im not sure whether to or not coz im not sure where i stand.

I went to visit friends in london last weekend with my 2 LO's (both under 18months and still in a buggy) the trains are quite old fashioned and the only place you can get on the train with any buggy (let alone a double buggy) is in their disabled part however when i got on the train both the seats were broken (infact they were stuck in an upright position) and i had to stand up for the whole 50minute journey (including feeding my 5week old daughter stood up on a moving train!).

The only thing is im unsure whether to complain as im not sure if when i paid for my ticket that entitles me to a seat or just entitles me to travel on the train  Does anyone know? I would like to be sure before i fire off a complaint letter to them.

Did have an excellent response from tommee tippee last week when i rang them to complain about the teats on their new closer to nature range (DD2 couldnt get anything out of them they kept sealing themselves up a feed was lasting at least 2hours as i had to keep repiercing the teat  ) The girl i spoke to was lovely and sent me out 6 replacment teats and a £10 voucher to redeem against tommee tippee products which will come in handy when i need to replace the teats again :D

I need to ring Boots customer services and complain tomorrow too  There soltan range is on BOGOF yet i was charged full price for all 4 items i bought today  and when i questioned it in store they told me it was only specific products when it clearly stated on the display all.

this sounds quite pathetic but my local take-away has a huge banner outside that says all food half price between 5:30 and 7:00
but when i ordered my food
    2x 12" pizzas
    1x tray of kebab meat
    2x cheeseburgers
i was only charged half price for pizzas and full price for the rest
when i challenged him about it he said it was only the pizzas that were half price (and i didnt want to complain too hard incase he spat in my food)
any ideas what i can do because the exact words on the banner are 'll food half price'

I have written a letter of complaint to Whiskas. I purchased the 12 sachets of whiskas oh so fishy and was gobsmacked when I realised they had cost me £3.99 for the 12 sachets. Then kittys didn't eat it. Tescos cat food is only £1.90ish for 12 so I told them it is vastly overpriced and over-rated

RESULT I received a postal order for £3.00 and a nice letter thanking me for my comments - Welshy

    They're a good company, Masterfoods/Mars, you know ;)

Only yesterday i wrote a letter to proctor and gamble, stating that their product doesn't do everything it's claimed it does.

'Fairy Power Spray does all the hard work so you don't have to.'

Hmm, one week old oven + oil splashes on stainless + fairy power spray = still a lot of hard scrubbing.

How is it that on tv Ainsley just lightly wipes over a lot worse mess than i had?
