I bought a book from Sainsburys to read on hols, it fell apart and i got bored with trying to keep all the pages together.

I emailed Sainsburys and told them, a nice lady called me on the phone, appologised and said other customers had complained about the same thing. She said they'd send me a voucher.

I'd paid £5 for the book so expected that back, the next day I got 3 identical letters each with £10 vouchers in them...

Should I email them and tell them about the failure in their voucher sending systems? lol

I wouldnt!! it is a mistake made by them....just enjoy!! Hee Hee :rotfl:

No - but the title needs to change
I wrote to McDonalds to complain about the staff in my local branch, flicking balls of paper over the counter at each other whilst the tables were filthy and uncleared and people were waiting for service at the drive thru window. They sent a letter of apology saying the manager of the branch had been made aware of my comments (which was all I wanted really) and sending me a £5 meal voucher. Which was a bonus.

Just make sure you don't go back to the same MaccyD so they can't do anything to your food when they see the voucher, as mostly these vouchers are given out as complains. I haven't worked there but have heard stories

I once found a maggot in a tin or neopolitan tomatoes, they asked me to send it in. A while later I got a £20 voucher and a letter saying it was not a moggot but a tomato grub, oh well thats okay then!

I had a shard of glass in milk once, from Iceland, we contacted them, and they gave us £10 to apologise.

A local family butcher sold us some sausage rolls once, and I have a habit of peeling off the pastry, eating that, then the sausage, and found the inside of the rolls were covered in mould! Rung the butcher, as they are friends with us, and they removed all sausage rolls off the shelf, and gave me £10 in rolls to apologise (the rolls had been wrapped before fully cooled), thankfully I peel the pastry off eh?

I'm not sure if this is in the right place, but a few days ago i bought a 4 pint bottle of milk from tescos, being in a hurry i didnt check the use by date on it. When i got it home i looked to see if there was a date printed on it and there wasn't. I took it back and was told by the girl at customer services to go and get another, no refund and replace, should i write to head office??

Yes, Def write to head office about this. Tesco are getting a bit slack recently on their r+r policy.

I found a hair (ginger!) in my babies Hipp baby food...It was really quite horrible as my baby was only 4 months old and I was already a paranoid about hygiene mother! I rang CS and they sent me a freepost box to return the jar. It made me think it must happen a fair bit as they had boxes in all different sizes for customers to send items back.
Anyway they had it analysied and said it was indeed a human hair but they had no idea how it got there as most of the production involved no human contact. I didnt find this at all reassuring and only recieved about £3.50 in Hipp vouchers. Needless to say I didnt use them - yuck!

I would complain again and say that you dont really feel that £3.50 in vouchers is good enough due to the fact they have said it was human hair, you yourself are not ginger and hairs can carry any number of germs in them. Tell them you will not be using the vouchers as you cannot trust that this will not happen again as even they cant figure out how it got there in the first place, say you have lost faith in a company you thought you could rely on. And finally explain to them how distressed and concerned for your baby you were as i think most of us would be. Dont be afraid to send another letter as you should definately have had a better reply than this. If at all possible find out the name of the managing director(is always on company websites) and send a letter to them as you usually get a better reply and include the letters you have recieved and sent previously (photocopies).

    Definately dont be fobbed off!!!

  • Starbucks - I just sent them a quick email recently to whinge about the service standards in a local store slipping.. nothing specific.. and I got 3 vouchers for 3 drinks (any size!) my friend also did the same thing as we were out together and she also got the same.

Asda - I used to work late shifts and noticed how when I went shopping at their 24 hour stores.. there was nothing there to buy in the fresh produce area! I lined up and complained (funny how at 1am there was a line as long as the store for complaints and returns!) and was given a stiff apology and a £2 voucher.. I wasnt happy with that so wrote in and received a £10 voucher. Have done this a few times at a couple of the local asdas and its always the same.. complain in person £2 ... complain via letter £10. its worth the stamp!
